That's were the contradiction lies. If you were being professional you would care about the hand that feeds you. Yes we are not the whole customer base, but then again this is so simple to fix if you were being professional - just clear up the facts, apologise where mistakes were made and hopefully we'll all learn something and move on.

I'm starting to side with Pondmonkey that the extended silence is not a good sign that this was all a simple mistake.

BTW I'm certain the sail made absolutely no difference to the result. I would also be less concerned if the boat crew misinterpreted the rules in their favour. What makes this case different is that a top class crew, together with a leading sailmaker used an illegal sail to promote both of themselves. Having multiple parties involved makes it more difficult to believe something was not pre-meditated. If that proves to be the case, that is a real issue that the industry should care about.

Agreed ... plus there is that rather dodgy video of a collision at a mark as 555 seems to bully they way over the other boat ...

I wouldn't put any store in what you see on a highly zoomed video. Depth of field is a tricksy thing.

Granted, but there was contact and shouting and no turning ... just one more pointer to the shabby nature of this affair ...

I too am now bored of this whole episode. Clearly none of those involved are inclined to clear up the mess.

How about you get on the phone to Speed and QMSC if you really are that bothered about it? I am also sure you could dig out contact details for the sailors concerned if you asked around.

To be fair the only question left really is were the sails signed of and measured? If so there is no case to answer regardless of what the UKFA statement is, as the sails were legal at the time (having been approved by a measurer).

Lets all go sailing now shall we in our boats that we will all say are 100% class legal....

My interpretation of that video was that the meatball was probably the innocent party. But it had very little to offer as evidence.

the offended party in the video says he shouted to the fb to carry on - the fb had no choice but to sail over him as he was avoiding a stalled 420.
the same, but different...
