Hopefully the knowledge that you've missed nothing of consequence here will be compensation for your dull conference.
Best wishes from deep in the woods

I recently had a measurer point out to me that I did not have the weight stamped in KG on the lead corrector in my hull. He suggested that I could be dq'd for that but offered to stamp it for me (eh - without weighing it?!). He didn't stamp it and I wasn't dq'd but maybe my boat was illegal even though it had a new measurement certificate? If so then so too were half the fleet.

When I attend an event, I want to be confident that any other competing boat meets the rules of the fleet in all significant areas relating to safety and performance. I would also hope, however, that the officials would have the expertise to make an informed judgement when it comes to very minor  infringements. Is an unmeasured sail on a front running boat sponsored by a sail loft significant? I leave that to the officials to decide   LOL

What I don't understand is if Sailboats is still owned by these guys, why they would dissolve their limited company?  Secondly, why when acquiring the assets of Purple Marine they haven't taken formal shareholding ownership in the new legal entity, Purple Marine Distribution Limited.  The whois search still shows the admin contact as the former director of Purple Marine Limited.

Instead Purple Marine Distribution Limited lists only one registered company director, a fellow who appears to be a financial intermediary and is listed only as a consultant according to duedil.com (a respected due diligence information provider)

All very, very complex... what are they hiding?

So hypothetically, given the lack of transparency, you could potentially, as a UK manufacturer be unwittingly supplying the 500 sails, on credit, to the same guy you've been chasing for millions of pounds for the past couple of years....ouch.

hypothetically... yes

lol... you could view it like that.  Although something as relatively simple as a sailmaking business (no disrespect intended to the sail making industry, simple is good imho) shouldn't surely need this much complexity in their corporate structuring, unless of course something's not quite right...

There has always been something a bit underhanded about this outfit ever since they got it from the Estaugh family, why do you think they lost there top sailmakers (did not want to be part of it is my guess).

I heard they still owe wages to the ex Aldridge staff most likely why they keep changing the trading name !

Don't think I would buy there product again as this type of thing causes a bad taste.

Just out of curiosity, is your opinion of then any higher or lower than your opinion of RS, who fielded out of class sails on some of their RS800s at the BM?
