Isn't that why the simple act of declaring to the RO beforehand demonstrates best intentions and hopefully the RO can make a sensible decision. That's what I would want to see in the SIs.
Leaving things to after the racing is too late and is what creates the awkward situations on all sides IMHO.

Sorry to go back a bit but was driving so kissed it all...

The problem with rule adherence is that you either adhere or get dsq no matter how silly it seems. Otherwise who is to decide when it is serious enough to implement penalties? When is that little bit of reinforcing on your sail too long, 5mm, 10mm or 100mm?
The only way would be a kangaroo court, I don't know maybe on a forum or the like, somewhere like y&y.
Everything I say is my opinion, honest

I hope you sold it rather than just recycling it James. Worth a fortune, that is. How careless of someone to leave it bolted inside your boat ;-)

The blue numbers were there only because the morning of the regatta when i picked up the sail, they were all i could get hold of, i explained this.......but i still broke the rules! This wasn't performance enhancing in anyway, infact its probably the least effective way of "cheating" in any class, yet the rest of the fleet sail round like bumper cars and look away when crossing you on port.....but that is a different matter.

Did you get a good price for the Laser?

Shhh they may come back at me and demand money for advertising and selling a laser when in fact it was totally b**tard-ised

I just wondered what would happen if I deliberately had left it in there... y'know adding some illegal strengthening to the centreboard case or something, would that have been breaching the rules too?

i thought it was sacrificial. Every pikey knows that a kilo or two of lead is worth more than the poxy lil boat its bolted to!

Where's this bit about the Voltaire quote?

Is that better to ask forgiveness than be refused permission?
