Ooooh some more controversy, so some bloke probably directed here from the fireball class association calls Grumpf out for his views on popular dinghies.. seems fair enough, there are plenty of people sailing Fireballs very happily. I guess most would say for the great racing, very few would probably say for the aesthetics and/or 'cool wall' quotient.... Although the irony of the V-Twin designer knocking another scow really isn't lost on me. But seriously if you wanted a symmetric trap double, it's either Firrball or 505... maybe an Osprey if you're lucky enough to have another choice, I can't think of any other single trap double I'd rather sail to be brutally honest.

As for the image, fair enough for Tom to raise a point, but I think the apology should have been enough without Giraffe stepping in... Wind yer neck in heh? I would possibly have have offered to delete the image by edit, but maybe this overthinking it, i certainly add images here without always crediting. It's a forum, not a blog. I also note that the image is embedded rather than uploaded, a minor technicality... But hey, in this thread minor technicalities are very, very important it seems.

Bolleaux! Our pet troll does base his opinions upon his extensive knowledge (admittedly of a different sport) and is both eloquent and entertaining (IMHO). I think I've read 4-5 of Newbie's posts which have all been insulting to and individual rather than a group, and have provided zero actual informational input.

for two of many reasons;

1) you are always going on about free speech. does it only apply to you? if we pressed the report button every time you posted something we didnt like. it would be pressed everyday!

2) leave the newby alone and cut him some slack. if you come out with what you do, you have to expect a little flack.

And of course none of us are clever enough to sail an old wooden scow designed in 1962 and renown for being towed behind Ford Escort Mexico's of the period, that would be a Ford Mondeo these days I guess, I bet you have to be really good and know everything there is to know about sailing to make one of those go, unless of course the handicap is absurdly wrong when it's breezy, then what would I know..
