   I'd be tempted with the club's 2000... being a sensible Dad you're not going to take them out in anything that would seriously risk capsizing until they are competent around the boat and have got their reservoir legs ons.   (That probably means topping out at a BF3, maybe slightly more if sunny and warm)  So given the rate of growth of your average sprog, they'll be more than big enough in a season or two.
I've also considered the what next option for sailing with my eldest in a few years.  I'd naturally be drawn to the Feva, but at 95kg, that's a big payload in the transom, whereas a L2k with cut downs and restrictive spinnaker use would be a less tippy alternative to an RS200 or N12. 

The 2k also has the new RS backing, which imho, gives it some sense of future and parts availability; but you'd be a fool not to buy the old sh*tter first and then see where the boat fits for you in the future.

	I'm the wrong person to ask, as I hate Fevas. And rotomoulded construction. But there's a deeper cockpit so a bit more comfortable. And much lighter. You've got the thwart there to sit children on, and if you have rear sheeting and the gnav (shudder). With the flyaway pole with a fork end on and a spinnaker chute you can fly the kite yourself quite readily.

	That's cheaper than I thought it might be actually. How does a Mirror compare to a Feva?

	If it was half the price I might be interested, but £2k for a nearly 20 year old boat, in a class that can't have sold many boats in the last 10 years, seems way over the top. Also not convinced the colour would be a winner... Edited by Peaky - 02 Feb 13 at 10:35pm

	But I guess they are mostly race ready, expensive, ones - I think it would be a waste to buy a top spec boat.

	I never imagined I'd end up posting a "what boat?", but there we are. I'm after a boat to sail with my two boys, aged 5 and (nearly) 7. I don't have space in the garage, so don't really want a wooden boat and am not keen on lacing sails, so the Mirror is not on my list. I'm tempted by a Feva, but have never sailed one and have been told they are much tipper than Mirrors. There is also nice looking GRP Graduate on Apollo Duck, and I also wondered about Fireflies. I'm after a very gentle and safe boat, and do not want to be risking a capsize in a N12 or 200. The club's 2000 is for sale at the moment, but I suspect that is too big. Any thoughts from the forum?
