The second ice gate is proving to be a right pain in the @rse!

What could possibly go wrong?

That made me chuckle...cause I was watching what must have been your very slow crawl up to it.

At least you are round now and can line up for the strong winds in the morning Smile

Is anyone on here GBR Jaws? Been right on my tail for a few days..

Nearly didn't make the 7am change this morning as I was in the Eurostar terminal and my phone data was down and the St Pancreas wifi was also not working. Good thing I can keep the same course for the day. Then there is the problem of changing course at 7 on the return journey - the game seems very sensitive to having a good connection..the woes of a travelling gamer...

Andy101, good luck with your travelling...much easier to keep on top of it from normal work/home.

rb_Stretch,

Yes GBR_JAWS would be me. Im not deliberatly following you just seemed the best route! Currently taking a chance of going further south to give a better angle to the next gate.

I have been struggling with the android app though sometimes gives incorrect boat speed / wind angle luckly im still just about staying with you.

Looking at the latest standings I have overtaken you both Big smile. I figured I had to do something different to try and get past you, it will be interesting to see if my tactic of diving east first will pay in the long run (I actually think you guys are still better placed, but this route is still the best option for me given the wind pattern I am in).

bloody wifi connection just gives me a blank screen when I click 'PLAY' hopefully I'll get home early enough this evening to modify my course to get up to the second gate. At least this is my last foreign travel for a month, phew!

Ah good to know who is in close proximity.

Actually your dive south convinced me to go one square further south than I had planned. I was basically running a workshop in Brussels today and didn't have any time to really look at the wind charts, so figured you must have had a reason for doing it, which given my lack of time was good enough for me to go a bit further south. Was chancing my luck a bit as I was relying on pauses in the workshop to be able to change course.....all very sneaky.

So far I've not managed to get any of the apps to work for me.

Well going South didn't work. The forecast seemed to change quite a lot closing any chance of working around the light winds, which was my original plan for going south. Don't know what others think, but these ice gates seem to make a dramatic difference in terms of what you can do or more importantly can't.
Anyway, cut my losses last night and headed north again. Unfortunately there are lighter winds ahead and stronger behind, so will continue to lose any gains I did have.  Dougal, looks like the middle ground worked well for you and I can see you continue to gain on me with more pressure.

I think we did alright out of it - I caught up a bit on you and JAWS, but the three of us have taken a fair chunk out of the boats ahead and behind.  I think we will slip back a bit over the next twelve hours as we head for the ice gate but things look ok again after that.
