Same here, gone from about 100,000 to 48,000 in the last 24 hours, managed to find a lucky band of wind!

You dont have to go through it, just go north of a bit of it (eithe bouy or even just a bit of the line between them).
Not sure where to go with this light wind coming in a day or so. Looks like i'm heading south'ish and hoping that the light wind passes to the North of me

Yep, I have set yet another course straight into the middle of a large hole. Heading south but should have done it 2 days ago.

Just got back from Berlin and just seemed to have enough internet access to not sail into trouble. And being Berlin, the city that parties all night, it did allow me the chance to change course in the early hours of the morning when I got back to my hotel.

I think you were really unlucky as Dougal took the same decision, but being just far enough behind you he avoided the light patch of wind you got caught in. He's now on my tail!

Ah! ok, I misunderstood the gate. I thought you at least had to touch the line. My mistake and damn, I should have gone South!!!

I just read the ice gate instructions again and the images have changed but the text hasn't and still refers to the old illustrations. The illustration and the images now contradict each other in the last two scenarios. So what is correct???
Here is the text:

On the images below, the green tracks and are correct, whereas the red tracks, in the bottom 2 images are

incorrect and will not validate your route. The orange track in all the images is the route of the race.

And here is the diagram
