Unhappy just trying to stay in the back of the front just went away for a little long Ouch

but now back on track heading east with favourable wind angle. still loosing miles to leading group and will become worse at next weather change.  Disapprove

but its then time to set up for the next ride east hopefully catch up a few miles. turtlerecall looking good in the south.

Interesting how we look at things differently.

When I eventually realised the corridor that you and Dougal were going for I could see it was windy and wide, but I couldn't quite figure out how you would be able to tack down south. At the time I could just see the low wind area following you blocking the south.

The path I chose was also far from certain - not only was the corridor precarious (I only just scraped through dropping to 9 knots boatspeed), but there was a distinct possibility that the light wind would engulf Gough Island leaving me trapped as well. I gambled that the more favourable winds in the South must win out in the end, as long as I can get around Gough. Let's see if that works out, but definitely looking more promising now than when I turned south, so happy with my position. Off to Poland in the early morning, so I've already lined my course up with Gough Island in case I don't get Internet.

Anyway either way I think we all lost out to the guys in front who just sailed through the area we've been struggling with.

Site down again!

RB, I think when I looked at it orginally the low would catch us up and then pull us south. Now it looks more doubtful it will go so far North hence the change of plan & 24 hour pause in the hole while everyone else motors East Cry

Has anyone had any joy with the iPhone app?

It worked for me in Spain last week, but I've not had it start even once without crashing in the UK.

There was definitely a route south when I committed that way - however it is not there anymore.  I am stuck in the middle of the low for the night, but hopefully things will improve tomorrow.  Given the way things were shaping up changing tactics and coming south was the only option.  I suspect it will cost me a fair few places, but fewer than had I stuck with plan A.  I reckon I've got a chance of getting past Andy101 though.... Always crashed for me, which is why it's such a nightmare trying to keep on top of the game whilst travelling.

Gotta feel for Andy101, you going to have a few frustrating hours ahead!

Indeed, Hopefully some breeze this pm Approve

Quick question on the boats -  Sparks 23 is one grid behind me with a slightly different wind direction but same strength of breeze. He is sailing at 134 degrees to the breeze & going at 12.1km whilst I can only get it to go at 10km at 134.
