Back in blighty after 3 days abroad. Fortunately I did manage to get access to the internet twice whilst away, but only needed slight tweaks to the course (and I'm not sure those tweaks even helped).
Looks rather complicated in the next few days. Seems like most of us are going to miss the low to take us East.

33,437th - but they did say they were b*ggering around with the rankings so they may not be correct (no change there!)

What could possibly go wrong?

...and slowly losing places.  Mind you, given I was 260k+ last week I'm not too unhappy.

34,591 for me, but as discussed previously I don't rely on this anymore.
Tad80 is doing very well in terms of positioning on the course and I would say is the forum frontrunner now. He is registering around the 3k mark.

Does anyone know what happened to the supposedly leading group off africa? I know bootscooter brokeaway, so I can only presume they have suffered badly from playing a more tactical as opposed to strategic game.

Further questions whilst I'm online.
The world is obviously not flat, so I presume we are using some kind of mercator projection or similar for our map. Does that mean we don't get the benefit you would in reality of sailing as southerly as possible (ice gates excepting) which is what happens in the real world? The great circle route is always the shortest distance, but does that apply in the game? If so any ideas as to how we judge what is the great circle route between two ice gates?

No literature that I can see on this. Depending on how clever the game is, maybe the squares are actually different in size at different latitudes?

I've been wondering the same thing.  Not got an answer though!

Can't help - never been sure if the Earth is flat or round Confused

A further question - the orange buoy we are all heading towards I take it is Gough Island and we to pass North of it?

Could you use a childrens globe and a piece of string to give some idea?
Rather crude, but it would help put tactical decisions into context.
