Pictures or it didn't happen accompanied by suitable mood music I'm thinking some jauntification of the funeral march, maybe hip hopped a bit.

Then the bit where you can't get back in it having fallen out, the Stan & Olly tune.. Cuckoo Waltz made for the Solo class that one

Yes, I'm looking forward to your upbeat but secret realisation that it has all been a terrible mistake..

I think a lot depends on attitude and expectation- the benefit this boat has over all the others I've owned since those first few posts of 'bored Laser sailor with f**ked knees- Contender or RS600?' is that I really have quite a low anticipation of the sailing experience.  I don't expect sparkling performance, I certainly don't expect much adrenaline or high thrills.  Although I'm reliably informed that I might just be surprised- after all speed is a sensation, not an absolute when it comes to the grin factor.

I fully expect to mix good days with bad ones based around the nature of the racing that's just occurred and my interaction with it.  What I genuinely hope for is a return to a gradual progress, improving month on month as I get to re-experience the sport I first fell in love with at the tender age of 9 in an Optimist dinghy.  Will a Solo deliver a return to classic class racing at club level? Well honestly I can't think of a better boat to do that really and when the boredom sets in, or maybe complacency is a better word, there's Hayling Beach and roof load of boards and sails to get a fix.  Thank you for the latter... without my chance meeting of you Graeme, I doubt I would have ever bothered taking the plunge and buying another windsurf set up, certainly not with the limitations there are for it inland in such a binary location.

The irony of the all our jesting- the boats and boards sit very well together.  You just need to appreciate which end of the wind range to apply them and also know one's for racing, one's for blasting and chop bothering.

Thanks Duncan, it was good to meet you finally!!!

'Thrilling' day on the water, even came last in R1 with far too many mistakes and head in the boat pulling the wrong string moments, but oddly enough I enjoyed it - 14 Solos on the start line, it was nice and competitive so lots to learn! Week off next week to spend some time with the girls (and avoid the spreadsheet racing) but back again in a couple of weeks, ideally hoping for a little more breeze as I the gusts it felt really quite nice n' simple to get going.

Bloody hell Jimbo I assumed you were buying second hand and you'd bought it cheap from a little old lady who knitted her own sails but was getting tanked off being scored OCS every race.

But you actually ORDERED it like that.  I'm speechless. Dead

In fact, drastic action has been taken.  To avoid any arguments over colour hues or association with "The Pink Slowboe", I have had to sell my Fireball. You see, it had purple progrip and purple kite bags and a purple painted floor.  But it was just too close, and had to go. 10 years of happy Fireball sailing ended, just because you have terrible taste in gel coat. I hope you feel bad.

I'm now going outside to reinforce my masculinity by continuing the restoration of my Gentleman's Afternoon Racing Battering Ram, another 22 coats of varnish on the pipe holder should do it, and perhaps a gimballed period Tufnol bottle holder for the Cockburns.  See you on the water old bean.
