Cant believe their even capsizing the Finns aswell.....

If you'd ever sailed a Finn downwind in waves you'd realise that capsizing the beast isn't actually that hard...
I'm not arguing. I'm explaining why I'm right.

If the OP really fancies a go there are some beautiful 'pre-loved' Finns on the Devoti website...

It is also an essential when judging the tactics of others as well ...  sailors are not too different to a football crowd when all is said and done !

PS-  Works just as well in 'his boats handicap' discussions at some clubs ...  and just as valid    ;-)

Im sure your right but I just recall the fuss when the 49ers were pitchpoling last time round in horrendous conditions and everyone jumping on it saying sailors of the Olympic standard should not be tipping them in......

Being realistic about my physical (plenty), and financial (enourmous) limitations, I'm actually seriously tempted to find a "Finn-Lite" (OK).  Awesome boat in it's own right (I had one many years ago), but such is the power of the Finn footage  really fancy one again... Cool

A few of mates sail OKs over the east coast... cracking boats, brilliant inland and on the sea.

The last 3 boats I have owned have all been fairly high performance recent designs, so on paper that should put me in the 49er camp... But watching the racing in the Finn and Star classes, and even the Laser and Radial classes (boats I have owned and never thought I would want to sail again) has been far more gripping than the 'crash and burn' racing we keep getting told that TV viewers want. I'm not buying it.

The Finn is a dinosaur - Its old fashioned and outdated in so many ways but watching these guys at the tops of their games muscle them around the course is awe inspiring.

I want one too.
