I can confirm we will have one jacksnipe at the event. I gather the boat hasnt been sailed much lately but should be there to admire. One of the Holt boats that through no fault of its own failed to become as popular as it should.
I can also announce that Jack Holts own Merlin number 16 "Gently", the most successful championship winning Merlin ever is to be relaunched on Sunday after a full restoration and return to her original spec. She has spent many years in storage and in the capable hands of Chris Barlow and Mervyn Allen has been carefully put back together and will be sailing on Sunday. Please if you are nearby come and see this famous boat relaunched. There is still space for any Holt designed boat whatever condition or age to enter. We currently have unusual, and commonplace, new hi spec versions and old, tired and could do with a bit of tlc boats. It doesnt matter what they are like its all about enjoying and celebrating the boats of this great man. We also have some great prizes from Rondar, Pelican Racing, Holt (they had to really didnt they),Harken, The Boat yard at Beer and Trident all of which we would like to thank for their support. The first thirty entries will get an authenticated souvenir made from mahogany recovered during the restoration of Gently.

So, what happened then? Did the Jacksnipe beat the Hornet?

Sadly the Jacksnipe didnt make it. Her owner did though. He has had some health problems and came to the event to introduce hinmself and apologise for not getting the boat there.
The event was a success and those that attended went away happy. Sadly the weather had put off quite a few but we celebrated Jacks life and boats in the spirit I think he would have approved of and raised a glass or three to him on Saturday. Free beer or Pims courtesy of Rondar Raceboats.
The sun shone on us on both days and only three heavy showers on Saturday.
I will get round to a proper report soon. With pics.

Glad it went well, Roger. We had a Saturday of un-remitting foulness in Somerset - think I'd rather have been there!

dont like to say but I told you Katherine would have enjoyed her birthday to the dulcet tones of 747s landing and taking off.
