Grf - I love it!

But when I read the ideas about inflatable recovery aids I can't help thinking:

TEIGNMOUTH ELECTRIC!

As I looked at these pictures the boy was passing, what is that?" he said, and, "where is the other bloke?"

Holy cow it's colossal! Impressive all the same.

I'm not surprised you have jib issues...the forestry looks horribly slack.  You need to get some more rig tension on that pronto!  A longer tiller looks like it would help too...

The mast is a colander it's got more holes than Blackburn Lancashire..

I think I have a solution but I need to draw it up..

On another note One of my club mates may be going for a Far 3.7 you'll be pleased to hear..

Graham, can you seal the mast? This could save you the ego bruising of a mast float.

Yes I was only saying to wing wang earlier in a pm, it's a scary monster, I had to go and have a bit of a lie down after that mornings excitement..

It's a big old jib, 4.7 ish I'd say and it used to take us over in the Alto if Steve didn't uncleat it when we tacked, so my problems er challenges... a) I can't seem to sheet it all the way home, b I need a jib track, c it was the jib that got me when I had got the cleat to jam, then lost the main sheet as I was about to put up the kite (both the main and jib sheets were running through an old laser kicker block I thought might be a good idea to try as a dual control feature (the bollox ideas I get some times).

If you check some of the other shots I had the main in one hand and the jib sheet in my teeth - only a mental person.... think maybe I'll have myself committed put me out of my misery..

As I said elsewhere the rest of the time it was a bit of a white knuckle thrill ride (not knowing how you should go about stuff doesn't help). I'm not going to post links but a bit of detective work will find shots of it going over and the charade trying to get it back up again.
The rig, the controls are all pretty crap, trying to operate two strings simultaneously was probably beyond my skill grade, I do like to make things difficult for myself and in conditions like that you need to have everything working half decent..

Anyway as I said back to the drawing board and inflatable kite accessories up top seems the way to go if I can't get my inflatable leading edge mainsail built. And I want to emulate the inflatable rack covers I saw at the dinghy show...

Problems only become problems if you let them, I'm still viewing them as challenges at this stage especially after the sheer thrill it was giving me prior to the upset..

Did you try the kite ?

Steve

The inverting and capsize recovery issues were screamingly obvious on the drawing board and pointed out to you ... a craft unsafe to sail without rescue cover ... Darwin at work ...
