You know the answer to all this controvesy would be to give the mighty whale to a proven good dinghy sailor and cast him off into a good wind. It is accepted that young Mr Fuller is inexperieced in this particular discipline and will therefore be a hesitant sailor. The problem with this plan would be to find a suitable, unbiased candidate. The "Lady Diana Specer Effect".  Lady Diana was plucked from the obscurity of the aristocracy as a girl who knew nothing and had not had her purity sullied, so that she could marry  Prince Charles without complication. Where can we find a suitable jockey who has no knowledge of the V twin, has no opinion on the subject, and (most important) has never been offended by GRF? I do have such a charachter in my personal stable who has no interest in the vessel or it's creator or indeed in sailing except sitting in a boat and winning. For a fiver I could put his lead on and bring him down?

Grateful though I may be, I think you're all missing the point, you'd be mad to take it out without rescue cover in those conditions, next stop the French Coast with your mast down or something equally dramatic..

But equally, any of you are welcome if we're out, to come and have a try, I'm sure most of you will make it go a lot quicker than me, but then that does defeat the point of it n'est ce pas?

It seems to be the general opinion that the nearest boat to the V-twin (short of a full cat / coal barge) is the Vortex -  I woulld disagree but thats a different discussion.
So perhaps you should take it to Medway - where you'll be able to make direct comparisons / measure how successful it is against the percieved competition by:-

Seeing if it's anywhere near as fast as a decent Vortex upwind (I doubt it).
Seeing if it points ( I doubt it)
Seeing if it goes quicker offwind (I doubt it)
Seeing if it's significantly more stable (I doubt it).
Seeing if it's easier to handle ashore / launch / retrieve (I doubt it).
See if it tacks quicker / better (I doubt it).
Seeing if its less aesthetically challenged (I doubt it).

Now it might seem that I'm a doubting Thomas - but in truth I hope it does do something well - and that leads to some advance. Either way if I know Graeme, he won't really care what I think as long as he's had some fun doing it (Including the 'wind ups' on here).

Go on one of you, try it! I would but I can't sail anything not even my own boat and anyway my heart will not take any excitment (officially) until they put bits of pig in it or more stainless steel or something.
