It's definitely Graeme- he's a very erudite and good humoured chap, and more down to earth than this thread with its vitriolic protestations may suggest- however someone's touched a nerve I think.

There are folks on here who we might not always agree with, however in truth we'd probably share a very pleasant jar or two if the opportunity ever presented itself. That's because of one simple truth- the very thing that brings us here, binds us- the love of sailing. This fundamental similarity, so often overlooked, is far more powerful than any very minor differences that manifest themselves as a 'webspat' or argument.

This is why it's a shame that Atrocity, whoever you are, you didn't understand that after interacting on here, it would have been the totally normal thing to do to introduce yourself to the man, shake his hand and wish him luck before he launched- even if you'd couched it as 'break a leg old chap'.

It's not a lack of courtesy, it's understanding and perhaps we should all remember we are all far more alike than we are different.

Graeme was already on the water when I arrived, he was one of the first on the water.  After the race, which was well over an hour, he stayed out.  I was there just under 2 hours and Graeme was on the water the whole time so there was no opportunity to speak to him.  Others at the club who I did speak to were very friendly and giving Graeme just as much stick as this BB does, especially the two ladies who served me the tea, bacon rolls and delightful cake.

Probably thought you we behave the same as you do in writing so didn't risk it ...

+ 1 Clap well put, as allways, james.

in my very limited direct contact with graeme, i also have found him a good guy.

but he has created a persona,( on purpose )on the forum, thats means he comes across as a know it all a***hole.
so its a little rich that he has come over a little hurt because some people are saying nasty things about his boat.
after all it not as if he ever says nasty things about other peoples boats! Wink

Ladies ladies ladies, lets have a sense of perspective here shall we, it's a bloody boat ffs.

Let's discuss 'hurt'.. When my dad died, that 'hurt', the first divorce about the same time, it smarted a bit, the death of my son was about the most painful thing a man can stand, my crew and my best man dying last year that hurt pretty bad, a couple of half ass trolls on the internet? If the thing is a total waste of time? In the greater scheme of things? Come on folks, lets get some perspective here shall we? This is trivia, it doesn't matter what happens, if it 's good, fine, if it aint, that's also fine, I tried, it didn't work out, I blew some doe that I would have had to give to the taxman to fund our fine politicians.

Now go,  be good people, get lives and stop trying to feel sorry for me, it really is nothing in the greater scheme of things, I think this thread is about done.

+1!!

The sport and the industry has to try new things all the time just to survive.  Someone has to do it! Good effort going for something so bizarre! I personally wouldn't have the balls to do something this drastic, probably because i don't think it would work. I still dont think the V twin will work, although I would quite like to have a sail in it just to make sure!!

Enjoy the project, I bet you are having way more fun with it than most people are having in their production boats!

It is such a shame that dingies are the way they are......needing someone to sit on them. This makes them dificult to produce as scale models. Just think what cheap fun it would be  if a toy could be knocked up on the kitchen table to test theories before commiting to the real thing. Perhaps one of you clever chaps out there could think of a way of producing a little robot that would jump about and swear a lot......just like the real thing. I do have a particularly clever cat but I cannot find a wet suit to fit him.
