Good post. It's amazing how your sailing suffers when you do this! I have a harness that is stiff around the hips and adjusted tight on the hips, and then quite lose on the shoulder strap. |

Harness, BA, rash top over the top of all. Less to catch on.

As for ruining rash vests, i always pull the rash vest over the hook and peirce a hole in it to make sure the rash vest doesn't ride up. Not had any problem with them falling apart, having said that a rash vest is a cheap item of cloting anyway (most less then £20)

The under vs over depends on which best fits my ailing back. You can always run the harness under the BA at the back, pass the straps through the neck hole and over at the front which stops the BA riding up if this is a problem. A little bit of a bind to put on depending on the harness strap/buckle arrangement

Brilliant, thanks all.
Yeah, i was thinking of getting rid of the 'stopper' anyway, so you've all just confirmed that one.
Ive done a tiny amount of trapezing from cats, but not from dinghies yet so i'm looking forward to that - and the new high pitched voice by the sounds of it!
![]() Thanks for the help.

Under the bouyancy; otherwise it will likely slip off your shoulders.
Get rid of the placky stopper; dangerous, nasty things A rashy over the top is a good idea, but you will eventually hook on through the rashy, ruining it forever.

I always wear harness, then BA then Rash vest over the top. if by rubber stopper you mean one of those sh*te plastic clips to stop you unhooking, bin it and quick. I think its best to learn to come off the hook easy and trap off the handle if needs be. Those plastic clips just make things harder.

Something I experienced too with my Gill adjustable harness. I now have a Shock Sailing nappy harness and it's pure bliss.

The BA will have some give in it so if the harness goes over and you tighten it up it may not be tight enough. Out on the wire the BA will squash under the weight and leave you with a horribly loose harness......The harness does have to be tight. We wear it under the BA. +1 for above, get rid of the stopper.
