Glad it is coming together. The rig looks good on the pic. Is that what you'd be going for with just one up?

Like some other things - sailing is more enjoyable when you do it with someone else

Yes, it seems quite manageable, at least it will be when bits stop busting because of their temporary nature, Ash took it out alone, it bloody flew, honestly it's impossible to describe how I felt when he really stepped it up a gear he had this blinding kite run, i doubt even if we'd had a rib it would have stayed with him it looked really quick. It's really wide, really stable, loads of righting moment, never once came near tipping point even when we blocked to blocked it to get it to fly a wing, if you overcook it however the wing digs in and everything slows down and things load up, so we need to raise them a bit more.

Good going GRF, even possible to steer it by the crew's ear as well by the looks of the photo. It does look good from that angle, and I really hope that it continues to go well for you. Obviously carries weight well as well when its a little windy, though I expect that the two of you only weigh the same as me on my own

Thanks for the prompt, remember the aim of the design, this boat is being built to challenge an RS700/MPS in terms of performance yet be easy to sail. I don't think it is going to happen, the GRF fan club think different. IMO nothing has changed, one swallow does not a summer make! Atrocity. |

GRF fan club? Dude you've no idea.. I've p.issed off just about every last one of the posters on this forum at one time or other, regaled, reviled, there's no fan club here, there may be a grudging acknowledgement that some of the bollox I come out with has an element of truth in its ironical delivery, but fan club? Shut up, you're the only real fan I've got. Now as for the target, I've done it, there is absolutely no question that if I set out round a course in this boat and sailed against myself in either the 700 or the MPS, I would win by a country mile. Now that doesn't mean some lard boy sailing an MPS wouldn't beat me, but then he would if I were on the MPS, but at least this way I won't be capsizing 18 times in the attempt and at the end of the day this is what the exercise is all about. And if you did but see it the same could be said for you, given just basic handling capability. The stronger the wind the more it would become true for even the likes of that Sten guy, likely he'd get this faster round a course than he would his own boat, he certainly aint going to pitch pole it. No doubt there are going to be conditions when this thing is a total dog (I've yet to find them it still kept going fair enough in the total lulls yesterday and I guess a Firefly or Albacore would be faster but some of us wouldn't be seen dead in anything like those, or Solos, or Hiking trusses, or Roosterwear, or Gil vests or Peter Storm wellies and we want the thrill of absolute performance, but as things stand right now we can't have it because we don't have the time to practise, well that all ends as of now. For me at least... You will have to cope with your topper a while longer.

What does that mean? Steer it by the crews ear? Does that mean that bloody long too heavy I want to think of some other way of steering a boat stick thing, hits the crews ear all the time? Or are you suggesting the crew was doing everything (which was pretty much true for the first five minutes or so, cheeky b**tard even turned to me and said "have you ever sailed a boat with a spinnaker before?" "Why would anyone want to sail a boat without one?" quipped I He weighs 75 kgs I'm sub 70. But Jamie is 96kgs it's got loads of buoyancy and it's spread wide so it would carry three of us I reckon and there's room for a stroll round the front deck... It's just like a formula windsurfing board, could take a 49er rig easy...
