Rheinwoche has been a fantastic event for the X1. We had the warmest of welcomes and a lot of interest. I'd highly recommend looking it up and consider going! You would have a lot of fun.
Normally held on a different part of the Rhein each year, 3 days sailing downstream (not likely to be able to stem the stream!), this year more normal racing was on the Mosel due to a lack of water in the Rhein. Mainly small keelboats and "piraten" dinghies plus a few interesting boats. Four races sailed (one canned due to lack of wind). The winds varable and light except for one massive gust that inverted four "Piraten" - you can find a videos of these on youtube. Anyway we managed to sail the fastest so were very excited to come away with the "Blue Riband"! ![]() Last two races: |

I think I saw you when you were coming back again - you were hoisting the main, trying to keep clear of a hireboat. But then you blasted off like a scalded cat.

Very kind - we found it pretty hard getting the rig up and down at the bridges with all that wind, so we can't have looked our best. On the other hand I was pretty excited to be the first boat to Acle! |

Quite by chance saw you at the bridge at Acle. Looked good, if very small compared to the Punts!

Definitely a mean handicap!
It was a fantastic race with a lot of hairy moments for all Only 2 Thames "A" raters finished. Most dinghies capsized - the lead boat 3 times. Amazingly we didn't. We were Fourth home, behind three Norfolk Punts. Many records broken we managed the 50 miles in less than 8 hours! Lots of tales to tell, quite a biit of carnage and I am sure som amazing photos onfd Vodeo will appear on the net soon. Potter Heigham had lots of spectators - if you haven't seen this bridge do look it up - all the boats have to race under it (twice!). |

I will be surprised if you are faster than a punt. That handicap seems a little mean to me!!
Still, it is a great race, I've never done it in a dinghy, always went for the civilized option, on a Broads River Cruiser!! Good Luck, and enjoy!!! Jon |

Just popping up to Norfolk for the Three Rivers Race from Horning S.C. Looks a bit breezier than last year and they have given us a handicap making us faster than the Norfolk Punts!!
So wish us luck!! |
