As a lightweight in the 300 I do not ease the kicker until I am heading away from the wind.  Main thing is to get the boat heeled on top of you and over ease the main (when the boat feels like it is on top of you it is probably only flat, I mean really on top of you).  This will let you squirt the boat through the power zone as you will not have lost any speed.  Knock the cunningham off rapido and then set your kicker.

We had our first outing since joining Netley Sailing Club. Missed the first race due to the A3M being shut but had an excellent second race in a freshening breeze. I wonder just how long 2303 will last being raced on a weekly basis but will enjoy the 70s gem for a while yet hopefully!

Depends how hard and fast you bang her into the waves... The short steep waves in the Solent area can be real boat destroyers. Inspect the underside of the boat from daggerboard case forward regularly and back off a bit if it seems you're getting lots of air, especially upwind.

took the feva out at the weekend with little bro, he did well fighting the tide and even sailing with the kite up. Not bad for someone who hasn't sailed since November as crew and before that the summer holidays.
