Yes 6mm is the best diameter for a Laser mainsheet.

We have actually moved to far thinner control lines - 2.5 mm. We can supply a compete pack (Mainsheet, Traveller, Outhaul, Downhaul, Kicker) for £35. Hope this helps, Jon.

Vectran is fine if it is actually Vectran but does it burn? If it doesn't (the ends don't melt) then it contains Aramid Fibre which is specifically not allowed in the class rules.

Vectran also dislikes the sun making it a bad choice for the Traveller. Just think how much sun the Traveller gets!

I like the Rooster Politite mainsheet a lot and I have still not found anything better, although I use the 6mm sheet, as I beleve it goes through the blocks better.

For the control lines we are using primers which don't flatten and low stretch and softer ropes for the secondary lines (very similiar to what a lot of people use for mainsheets).

Getting the right ropes is really important so we are taking our time to get the lengths, materials and thicknesses spot on (I am sure you understand how important this is and we want to get it right first time) but it will be available soon. The aim is to have produces which last and function better.

I would definitely replace your current set up WHEN they were out (remember ropes do not last for ever and you shouldn't just keep using them until they break!)

The reason Kelvar type ropes are now allowed by the class rules is that they "do not like going round corners" meaning they can suddenly break... not a good thing when you are in the middle of a race!!!

Surely if a rope type is unsuitable due to risk of breaking, it can be weeded out by that rather than having a bureaucratic block put on it in class rules?
