I’ve had mine a few weeks now and not gone too mad on the bimbles..

·         Put stopper bobbles on the toe strap’s, so when I adjust straps and the rope isn’t quite in the jammer you don’t do a double pike into the drink

·         Upgraded the cunno (same as 100 site)

·         Kite halyard bungie take up, I’ve put hook on one end so it can be released when storing the boat and put a block with twisty shackle on the other end to stop twists in the rope.

·         Tip – I just put a piece of tape from the boom on to the Frankenstein nuts to stop kite sheets catching

One thing has anyone come up with a cool fitting for the tactic bracket? Bit of a pain with the curved deck.

We've got 2 at L&L and third coming over from PD.  Maybe we should get together with the B&FYC and have a northern event :-)

For refrence where does everyone think max kicker is on the big rig?  I have pulled the rollers down to the baby rig holes (and ran out of travel cos i didn't shorten the loops) but anyone pulling further than this?

Hi Alex,

Depends slightly on what you regard as 'windy' but with the big rig in any sort of decent breeze you need MAX kicker - i.e pre-tensioned loops and then pulled on until it bottoms out. Only time I wouldn't do this is beating into choppy waves when you need to keep a smidge more power for drive.

Don't forget the downhaul is your biggest friend in breezy conditions - don't hesitate to pull in on hard - and I mean really hard !

Lots of kicker and max downhaul and you can cruise upwind in pretty much any breeze - then its just the downwind that can be so testing !

Cheers

Chris

Alex, we did have 2 'early adopter' 100's at BFYC last year, but both only lasted a few months. One went back to his Blaze and the other to a Streaker. They are both decent helms but the fairly narrow estuary at BFYC very rarely allowed them to use the kite to their advantage (though when the wind/tide was just right for a long-leg kite reach, they won by miles !).
Hope that doesn't stop you coming up to see us, especially for the Eskimo event.

I think that fair sums up my experience, when you do win, you win big stylee, the rest of the time is mediocrity battling it out with the mackerel fleet... (our laser sailors at the back trail feathers in the summer to catch mackerel).

I have got to give that a go when I take my radial to the west coast of scotland! Do they ever catch anything?
