What else was she to do? No one makes a sit in, rather than sit on, boat which can be handled by a light weight lady. Solo, expensive and too big, Byte a tippy plank, Streaker and Lightning too much sail. Perhaps the small rig RPX would have ticked the box had it been available?

I'm pretty sure you can get a cut down Lightning sail. Does QBA stand for anything other than the rather obvious?
Like some other things - sailing is more enjoyable when you do it with someone else

Europes offer spectacular VFM on the second hand market. You can get a boat for less than the cost of the carbon mast many times.

I would have recommended a Lightning, we do have extensive family experience of this class but there is no PY for the cut down sail and she was determined to buy new, so a Claridge boat would have been too expensive. Mind you goodness knows how much a new Splash would have cost!
