22 miles for me. Reason being it is the only club I really like in the local area. Have also been a member there for a lot of years and have a lot of friends there.

I don't go past any other clubs but there are other clubs closer (Lakeside SC in Peterborough about 9 miles) and Rutland (about 18-20 miles) and a couple of river clubs in the other direction.

Lakeside looks like a tiny club and is very cliquey (I popped in there one day and was made to feel very unwelcome as I was an outsider) and they don't have a very active racing scene. Rutland is a nice piece of water but just too damn expensive for the amount of sailing I do. I would want something much bigger and faster if I went there!

Just left a club that was walkable from home, nice easy launching, nice people but not the fleet racing I want.  Now have to drive about 20/25 minutes to get to club but has a much more active laser fleet.

Member of 2 clubs both about 25 miles & 30 minutes away both norfolk broads but differant water to suit differant boats.
Pass 1 council run club 10 miles, 2 river club clubs 12 & 17 miles not open water so not suitable.
Free Sea lunching 25 to 30 miles away for those days when you just need too.

2 miles for me. Would be closer but the clubhouse is the far side of the reservoir! I sail at Bristol Corinthian. Chew Valley is about 5 miles the other side of the Mendips - so 2 successful clubs very close together.

I would join Draycote full time instead of winter membership buts its simply too much money once i factor in fuel, dinghy park, membership vs. the racing i would get with no W/L fleet.  Draycote is about 50 miles away from me.

can only admire your dedication to sailing.

i live in coventry and if i had to travel 50 miles to sail i would give it up.

russ, you are the man! Clap

Hi 5 minutes to the boat and I dont pass any other clubs.
Great sailing on the Solent and good launching once you are used to it.
But not great for fixed rudder single handed launching.
