If designed to sail heeled (and I think this is a very good plan) then should you angle the planing surfaces so they are flat when heeled with the windward one just kissing the water? Also, can you come up with a way of keeping the rig upright when heeled?

Toppers are very short, very short boats do have issues with waves.
This is nearly 5 mtrs long, my experience of boats having issues with our particular wave length is that anything under 14 ft (4.26m) has problems . It has two planing rockers middle then aft, once on the aft section the nose should stay clear. Then there's the issue that anything with a fine entry, is wave piercing and will tend to go down rather than bounce up, so the nose volume is the very deliberate bit, if it were not, I might as well just go with a Cat, as you observe, furballs don't go down the mine. (I didn't know that, but can understand why not). The second point, the chances are, to really wind this thing up, it's going to need to be heeled, not sailed flat, it's likely to work well on flat water sailed flat, but anything troublesome, then it's going to need to be heeled. We're fitting the mother of all hi aspect foils in order to assist that, so then you present just half the bow, look at it then, not quite such a big area, yet still backed by nose volume. The idea, on the one hand it'll be dead easy, but on the other, a bit more technical input might be required to get even more out of it, which might suit me just fine. On the other hand it might not of course and it all be an rfwot. (Had a bit of a panic attack today)

Whilst I'm really rather impressed with your commitment to this, I'm still utterly, utterly baffled why someone after a boat that'll sail well in high, short, chop has gone for a scow bow. I know the furballs seem to work just fine, but I can remember getting it wrong a few times as a kid in a Topper. Other than that, all the yank Scows ply their trade on billiard table lakes.

Er Yes & Yes is the answer to the last point. As for beauty, that is and always has been in the eye of the beholder, I like the way it looks. To me it looks fast, & stable, which is what the doctor ordered. As for will it work, that's what we intend to find out. The computer predictions indicate it should, put enough sail up and lets face it even wooden packing cases go, the key is not wether it works, it is how well does it work. What issues are there, is the handling too heavy, is it slow onto the plane, does it 'track' badly in waves, the thing I am most worried about, is the turbulence that is going to occur at the head of the tunnel cut out. On flat water it'll be a dream, my worse ironical nightmare would be that in broken chop it fails to plane and grabs all the time, so on my home water it'll be a failure, like lots of other boats. But hey, in for a penny.

I can assure you the French one went like a scolded cat. Possibly a little to fast in fact! I may show you that you may not have to be quite so radical in your hull shape to achieve what you want. Easily cured with inflatable racks if indeed I decide to go entirely with racks, the end game is to trapeze, the racks were always meant to be demountable. Er I don't do 'hiking' for all I'm worth, very ungainly un-gentlemanly, not cool at all.

Right, you're on, thanks for that we need some help, we'll cover the cost of the petrol, we'll tell you where to be and when. Of course you'll show up now won't you? So back to the progress, bit more over the weekend and the Drawings have gone off to the millers for pricing. Hulls tweaked, wetted area reduced a bit, racks added, pole angles increased, there's some righting moment on this beauty, even a little slip of a lightweight is going to hold onto some massive ragtime, those lard boys won't even hear me coming past....
