I have no idea how the scores work but it hardly seems fair!!! you should score the points in your relevant fleet!! Its madness.

I have been searching like mad to find out how it works, but it seems to me that even if you won our fleet you could only come 4th overall no matter how well you sailed (which by the way was bloody well, well done the merlin boys)

For you Russ
46 (biggest fleet)/ 26 (your fleet) * 15 (your Pos) = 26.54
simples
I think it quite fair
However i think it will change slightly when BM becomes the bigges fleet lets say 200
FF (200) / number in it's fleet (35) = 5.71
MR (200) / number in it's fleet (26) = 7.69
MPS (200) / number in it's fleet (28) = 7.14
Russ (200) / 26 (your fleet) * 15 (your Pos) = 115.38
(I think)

Well its unfair because the races where round different courses against different boats in completely different parts of the lake. Also just because the fleet is bigger doesn't mean the standard of sailor is any better. They should all score a 1st at the event to make it fairer. Is first place at the Olympics regatta less of an achievement then 1st place at the topper nationals? after all there are more boats entered at the topper nationals for that one regatta!!
I am not sure i understand the logic, it some what de-values peoples achievements. Not that it matters when you are as far down the pan as us.

I think it going to be hard whichever way to do it. However could you imagine only a handfull of boats were entered the in specific fleet all series and the same boat won each of the events, i'm sure some people in the bigger fleets would peeved.
I've always liked the high scoring points which would do well here. e.g two fleets with 10 & 20 boats - winners of each fleet would both get 100pts however 2nd place in the bigger fleet would get 90 and in the smaller fleet 85 and would work on a sliding scale

I'm with Merlinboy here, i can't see a fair way of doing it. This is probably why the GGP wasn't in this series last year, the the steve nicholson race must cause similar problems.
However how may people competeing are really in it for the warm up series?

Last year each fleet counted their result, hence my shock and disappointment this year:

Granted...
I had forgotten that you cant sail through the line downwind and by the time I realised I was sailing along it close hauled with spinny flogging just to avoid crossing it, when I gybed I was so miffed I just simply forgot what to do and splashed it in....James caught up enough to have a brief chat, and then I was off again.
Paul C sailed really well, I had approx 20-30 secs lead at first mark but then I threw it all away for the rest of the race as the wind died off and it got very shifty.
I was seriously peeved to be late for the first start, I guess it would have messed with the running of races to have waited 5 minutes longer for all the boats to have got to the start line, but hell it sure messed up my event.
I wasn't even a lazy bugger either (up at 6am to get there!)
In two minds about the weather, on the one hand I was glad that it wasn't too cold, on the other, it was damn cold when it was windier, but warmed as the wind dropped.....I would have preferred more wind (obviously).
