We have one at Burton - I will nick it one day and have a play - it is a nice boat once you get past the lead mine concept

saw a couple sitting in the boat at Broxbourne the other week (picking up the boat); that's a strong FF15 club. Seems like a good match, really, a FF15 for billy-no-mates!

How many of these have been sold and how many are racing? Is there enough now for a circuit of opens? I'd be interested to know where the majority are based as it looks a great boat for the Central Solent off Hill Head.

Hi Sapspec, I work for Vandercraft (who sell them) and have sailed one at Starcross YC. We sail at all states of the tide and it can get pretty shallow at different parts of the estuary but haven't come across any problems so far. Of course it's not quite the same as sailing on a pond with weed etc but if you know the water (as I do at SYC) then I don't see that you should have a problem. The keel will pick up some weed (as would any centreboard) but the leading edge is canted back slightly so it should come off quite easily. And it can be seen very easily when hiking out slightly. A bit of backwards sailing should soon sort it out!
The best thing to do is organise a demo. It's a cracking boat to sail and you'll soon know whether it's for you or not... www.K1sailing.com Regards Tony |

Sounds about exactly what I have been waiting for ...
At 88kg and 67 years, and just about to lose my crew. HOWEVER Paul had some reservations about a weedy pit & thats where I'm at. There is about 100 acres available, generally around 7' & thats good until about 10' from the margins, except for a couple of spots in the middle - down to 5'. Thats all good for normal water conditions, but all bets are off in a prolonged dry spell! Anyway can anyone (Paul?) reassure me? |

I'd have thought it must be a real weapon in the light stuff on 1060. Close to Phantom speed, i'd have guessed, till they start planing.
