RS 100 or D-One

I've been sailing a laser for a couple of years now after getting back into dinghy sailing.  (I used to sail moths in my youth, but they're a bit different these days and I've spent the last ten years or so crewing on yachts, mainly J-24s and want to do more dinghy sailing, but the Laser just isn't really challenging me anymore).

You could always try the Vareo?

RS Build and Design Quality, established circuit, cheaper, blah blah .. 

That may be so, but is it not a cheap way into single handed assymetric sailing, which is what it seems would be best for this chap?

For half the money of a 100/D1 he could have a decent quality boat, get the hang of it and decide if he really wants the 2nd sail or not, and sell up and lose .. well .. almost nothing! (Depreciation of a brand new boat vs a 4 year old boat?)

Edit - and ignore the Grafham results, there are scary shrimp in the reservoir, who would *want* to sail there atm and risk taking them home ..
