Rupert, Its all about time in the boat and having the necessary sailing area for boats like that. I think any twin wire speed machine would be hard work at Whitefriars. But i think you are doing yourself a disservice to think you couldn't manage it. It takes time and commitment.
But you are right, the market does seem small, if you travel round some of the big lake clubs of the UK their dinghy parks are littered with boats like 49ers, 5k's etc. which have covers filled with mouldy water. They hardly ever seem to see the water. Which is a shame.

There are far more sailing numpties like me who would fail dismally to sail a boat like the SK4, and very few sailing gods who can manage, so the market for such boats is pretty small, even though they look fantastic.

Noycey, please post the photos when you get home. I always loved the idea/Look of the SK4, suprised it never really took off.

mmm, I have some action photos on my pc at home of this thing. It is rather cool. Imagine a twin wire, skinny lightweight B14 on steroids and you won't be far off...

Close, I think it's the Morrison designed SK4ish clone that was floating around at Stokes Bay a couple of years ago. Can't believe it's take this long to get close to production though. |
