Fireball

   Have been thinking of getting a fireball for some time. I'm 17 (i own a rs feva 

xl so am competent) and will sail it single handed and double handed. Will i 

be able to control it on my own? I have found a dinghy on ebay

Lastly i will be sailing this on a river but the water can get quite rough 

sometimes, would this be ok as i have heard that fireballs should be sailed 

on lakes.

	Are there any trees near this river? Some people might say a trapeze boat isn't the best choice with the way the wind can switch on/off rapidly!

	No no trees only moored boats which give you shelter but thats only in one small part of the river. I have seen other trapeze boats out on the river.

	Having recently crewed a fireball for the first time at a regatta I would say the fireball would be a handful. The Trapeeze is quite a way forward and being a centre main, the tiller extension can't be too big as you need it to go through the gap. This coming from a 700 sailor. The fireball is a great boat if you have a crew, a handful if sailed on your own. Where abouts do you sail?

	i sail at aldeburgh, suffolk on the river. Just wanted something with a trapeze and spinnaker so when i do have crew i can sail it with them and always wanted a wooden fireball.

	If you are after a Trapeeze and kite, and happy to learn then the RS700 may be a good bet. Ok you cant sail it with someone else but are their other boats you could borrow if needed. (mine is for sale BTW) Other boats you might want to consider are the Vago, Ok its plastic but it is designed to be sailed single and double handed with a trap and kite. Going back, I sailed the fireball at Brightlingsea, it wasn't the smoothest of boats in chop, it does bounce a lot (like a laser) compared to the 700 that isn't as bouncy.

	What i forgot to mention before is that i have a budget, of maximum 500 pounds.

	You can get a really good old wooden one or even fair Plastic one for that. I'm on my third now or should be in a few weeks time when she is complete and usually sail them single handed, in sheltered waters however .

	used to own furballs many moons ago sailed on the sea at So shields so no probs with the waves. used to sail it single handed when it wasnt too windy with an extended tiller just got used to throwing it round the back. great boats. will have another one one day.
