Laser Open at Hunts on Saturday. Was a strange day with some very windy bits and some very flat bit. Managed to get 5th overall so pleased with that. I am just waiting for the results and then I will post them up on Y&Y with a few words...

Been out all weekend racing at the Goodacre Cup at Roadford...much too breezy for comfort, have skinned my knees and fingers, looking forward to calmer conditions tomorrow.

Wished they'd cancelled here, took a right pasting, I'm bruised, bashed and
brutalised and I bloody had to retire with the finish in sight...

I just can't make this boat go with this small sail in a breeze, it won't live
with a laser upwind, and off wind if the reaches are at all tight I can't hold
the kite.

So the only leg I get to use it is on the run. Then you have to squat almost
on the label with the stick between your butt cheeks to hoist.. Very sketchy,
but hilarious fast..

Becoming a frikking nuisance 'well sailed Blazes' AB (Absolute B'stard) managed
to stay in touch with us in the Alto today to snatch 2nd from us, thanks to a
sticky kite cause by a block coming adrift. We'd had a blinding start and were
leading until it failed.

Wish I'd never sold it to him, that's both my bloody boats he's now beaten me
in using it, think it might be time for a bit of sand and varnish down the boat
park one night..

Mens Tankard today.

An un-inviting sea. little wind and raining. Mixed handicap (Cats in there as well).

Wind picked up to a 3 for the first start which I muffed, went close in to get the better angle but less tide assistance. Those that went out doing well. clawed our way through the fleet on 2 reaches, 1 with and 1 without the kite. In second place now behind a well sailed Blaze.

The kite reach put me in front and the non kite reach put me behind again. Much luffing going on approaching the marks and much shouting.  Him first at the end me second.

Second race the wind picked up to a 4 and we got a cracking start, we got to the mark just behind a 400 (Who was in the Ladies Race) , up went the kite and we were flying untill I dropped the tiller. race over. A discard. Single handed Hobie 16 without spinnaker the winner

Third race was a Blaze and us tussle again untill he muffed a gybe. Us second behind the single handed 16 again.

Fourth race was similar, we held the Blaze and finished behind the 16 again. Someone pointed out (not us) at that stage that there is a minimum crew weight for the 16 in their class rules. He agreed to withdraw.

We were left the overall winners with a second and 2 firsts....but not quite sure how I feel about the Hobie 16 withdrawing.
