My local club sails Enterprise, International 14, Laser, Mirror and National
12. I'm moving away for a year or two though so that doesn't matter too much. However I hadn't even bothered looking at i14's, I just dismissed them thinking they'd be £££. I've sent that guy an email turnturtle, thanks for the link. EDIT
I'm 21, fit and about 70kg. Crew will be pretty much the same as me. I'm from Newcastle upon Tyne, and usually go between off the coast here, Kielder reservoir or the lake district. Experience wise I've been sailing for about 9 years, Topper, Byte, Laser, quite a bit on bigger stuff too like the Swift and Sonata. I'm looking for something that'll keep the same fun level you get from a laser, but for two. I've always wanted to give a trapeze boat a try. Edited by Chris_r |

That boat has already had 2 owners this year. It had a major refit 18 months ago with new decks, dagger board trunk and paint job. It originally had a dead smutty name and a porn web address plastered across the hull. The guy who did it is a good sailor but couldn't commit to the time needed to master it. ......probably good value for money Edited by GK.LaserII |

but the key phrase is 'the time needed to master it'. Another major factor to consider. With no background in double handers I'd be loathe to jump straight into something so complicated.

I'd like a boat with a bit of history lol, sounds good. The topper is also only a short drive away, I've emailed the sellers of both. My dad introduced me to one of his friends who has a wooden enterprise, it hasn't seen much use over the last few years and its starting to look a bit tatty. He's allowed me to use it, just to get it out on the water more often. I figure it'll ease the transition and I'll also give it a bit of TLC to say thank you. |

The mast of the topper has a nasty bend towards the top, about 10 degrees
off straight. The sails are delaminating and the spinnaker has holes in it. I think I'll leave it. |

Taking you literally. If you have £1000, find a like minded soul with the same to put in and go for it

Just a little update:
The boat at Kielder has a leak near the centerboard, has damaged sails, and a bent mast. I was going to take a look this weekend but to be honest I (and I think most of you) will agree that there are better deals to be had. The international 14 has been sold (Advert removed). The B14 - good sugestion, just find one for £700 ![]() I've got my eye on the most recent ISO for sale on the association website. I've been offered a cherub, it's a good boat but its a bit over budget and doesn't have a road trailer. In truth, I haven't found anything still available for sale at the moment which is suitable, best to just keep checking the classified adverts for the 'right' boat. |

We bought a Hornet a couple of years ago for £500 on a combi. Thirty year old boats are stil competetive( they built them to well) but you will struggle to win handicaps with them. Bang for buck its the most fun I have ever had. They are quite twitchy and dont forgive if you dont gybe flat and fast but they are great fun. There are fleets in North Wales, Southampton, South East coast and the West Country. If you want to be competetive go for a revolution design if you just want bang for buck look for an older one. You can even find the odd one about with a sliding seat.!!
