As I only have the 8.4 rig I dont know any different.

Last night was a very gusty F4 ish and had horrible chop and upwind I struggled to hold pace with the 200's (all of which are pretty good).

However downhill when I pull up the Turbo boost the speed was tremendous.

I have come to the conclusion while racing 200's that if I can just about match them upwind I am safe as I can take out a decent margin downwind. If I beat them upwind then I know I'm safe. As it happened last night I did struggle upwind and the leading 200 was able to stuff high in the gusts and I simply cant do that so I was sailing off trying not to stall so he was a tad quicker upwind. It was also beating against the tide and running with it so probably my worst conditions.

I finished within 20 seconds of 1st 200 and 20 seconds ahead of a well sailed K6.

Really close racing and its what I would expect as we are all very similar ability.

Feet hurting this morning!!!!!

Cheers,

Keith.

Me too - I am sure I have posted some >1060 times with the 8.4.  (1060 is the PY we use for the Skuds which I have been racing against).

last Sunday in ~8 to 10 mph breeze and with the 8.4, I could only just outpace a full rig laser upwind if I was hiking like hell (and I suspect the laser wasn't really trying)

We get a second 100 to Rutland this week though so really looking forward to that )

Well I struggle to get the 8.4 to work at a PY of 1035..

It can't just be me, I'm actually not that useless now.

0 - 8 kts I can make it fly, big sail obviously, beyond that, small sail I'm
toast.

And we appretiate it very much.....

I think like any boat it has a sweet spot in terms of conditions and when everything is going for us its great but I have had several races where I have struggled to achieve anything like PY so it will be really interesting to see how it all plays out.

I note the proposed HISC 8.4 PY is 1010 which is pretty close to the RS recomended 1014 anyway.

I think the thing for me is understanding what difference the 10.2 rig (with a big guy on board) makes as I have only opted for 8.4 and have yet to sail against a 10.2.

Cheers,

Keith.

Hello

Quick question and any help appreciated! Would like to do Poole week then the 100 Nats but don't have a boat or one on order! What are the chances of getting a boat in the next 3 weeks

I am based currently in Weymouth

Happy to buy new, secondhand or charter!

Thank you

Nick

who is very good at sailing that and a 400 so should be fun watching or in our vareo fleet case hearing about the results as we got our nationals at the same time over four days.

Best of luck to everyone who is planning on going it would great to see your fleet get into the top fifty classes first go
