Unless I've lost my understanding of fundamental physics, it's almost identical to a normal rope
kicker but with a bit of mechanical advantage from the vertical bit and a hell of a lot of stress
induced around the joint on the boom. I suspect it also loads up the gooseneck big-time, although
I haven't done the maths to prove it. Not very good IMHO.

[Edit] I'm talking about the thing Peaky posted, not the other curvy stuff. Big problem with the curvy stuff is that
you'd have to get your mechanical advantage elsewhere - on a rope kicker you can get it with a cascade between boom
and mast.

I would guess this is effected by the acuteness of the boomerang angle. If it were less say as an arc deflecting merely 9 inches this will give a lot more space for the crew and a whole lot less stress on the structural intergrity...

I like the idea of the boomerang kicker - any reason they aren't used more?

Wouldn't a carbon Kevlar boomerang kicker work, mount it
to the normal places and give you the same power and
flexibility but remove the killer diagonal line between
boom and mast
