I still don't know how you got away with that! Even some of the kids parents
that tried to go in there got kicked out.
You must have whispered some sweet nothings in somebody's ear to be let
in.

Mmm. I think I bottled it and went low. Only an I14 went
hot. Having said that, the downhill run on the last lap was
brilliant. Fully wired and stonking it.

Or he snuck in through a back door and was quietly cursing Laser sailors so they thought he was OK.

That is bad form for the host club to be so inhospitable though!

Wow, what a weekend.  Awesome breeze on Southampton Water on Sat / Sun.  Great fun, proper cat sailing weather.

Anyone got any good stories from the weekend?

Good fun up at Derwent (the one near Newcastle). Wind did some odd stuff Saturday resulting in it almost dieing. Cracking social at the club Saturday night into the early hours of Sunday. Strong and gusty Sunday- helmed got kite and jib halyards tangled, I only noticed when kite was firmly jammed between forestay and jib halyard. Had to take a swim in order to get it down. Took another couple whilst trying to retie spinnaker halyard. Got it up, blasted downwind but were too late for the first race. Headed back up the lake clear of those racing, hoisted, blasted, went to gybe and both hesitated as the boom came over. By now on about third or fourth swim. Decided to go see if second race was nearing happening, but on way down saw another B14 in trouble- broken rack, rescue hadn't noticed. Decided at that point to shout at nearest rescue boat, then retire before we broke anything. Boats that stayed out for all three races eventually came in looking near death. Top stuff.

Very windy Medway on Sunday.  A breeze that would be manageable with my regular crew was a disaster with an inexperienced crew.  The boat was difficult to handle and we glanced a mooring bouy which took the rack off the port side.  Meanwhile an 800 was losing its rig.  We fixed the rack over lunch but couldn't race in the 25K and so we proctised which was good but coming in the crew didn't take the board right out and the boom caught it and took the bottom 100mm off.  Not the weather for an inexperienced crew.

Monday was better.  A much better crew but a dropping wind meant we didn't do that well - well you wouldn't if the crew doesn't have to wire do you.

Pretty much everyone gave up at our place.  Leaving two (very good) windsurfers and ME ...... in the family Pico.  Fantastic....30knts+, but I still can't pitch pole it.

Actually, an I14 left the jetty after several hours of rigging; prompty capsized then spent the next hour or so drifting across the bay in various states of upside downness.  Hmm, maybe that boat wasn't such a bargain after all .........

Nice to have some wind for a change!

No sailing for me for a few weeks. Did an over enthusiastic roll tack on Wednesday and heard a bit of a crack....inspected boat after the race and discovered that I have put a 6 inch long split in the bottom of the cockpit.....
