Is this the world's MOST DISGUSTING dinghy?

What has *style* got to do with anything? I don't know that I would do it that way, but the logic behind what he was doing when he designed the boat is obvious enough. Its not a fashion show...

Whilst many may just say "all rotomold boats, LOL", I think the Topper Topaz Omega and Laser Bahia are particularly gopping

Adam, what do you sail? I'm sure we can find ugly, unflattering pics of it, unless it is a Firefly, of course! That Moth is pretty ugly, mind. |

Not as bad as the Mailboat.. haven't found any pictures of this monstrosity (8 foot, polystyrene, no c/board... and an inability to sail closer than a beam reach as a result) but here's a description off the interweb.
Polystyrene dinghy The Mailboat is an 8ft dinghy made of 1in high density polystyrene. She has a gullwing shape, with twin keels, weighs only 68 lb and can be used for rowing, sailing or with an outboard motor up to 3 hp. Designed for the Daily Mail by Peter Milne and Peter Cook she was launched as a special attraction at this year's Ideal Home Exhibition and sells complete with oars, spars, terylene mainsail and jib, for £49 15s. She measures 8ft x 5ft x 2ft 9in deep with a 38sq ft mainsail and 7.2 sq ft jib. As there is no centreboard there is enough space for four adults. The mast, boom and sprit are made of marine grade polished aluminium and the makers recommend that if the boat is used with an outboard motor the hull should be painted with Isoclad or a similar product, as the EPS plastic is liable to deteriorate if in contact with petroleum products. The Mailboat is available through the Daily Mail. She can go on a car roofrack, or on a specially designed rack. |

I'm afraid the Bonito won't win any beauty contests, but more to the point, the design failures are the long, unspported leech (no battens) the flat, squared off hull and the very small daggerboard. You can't point at all.
![]() Clearly that bloke has lost a contact lens... But it has to be said, her indoors loves hers because it is stable, roomy and has a high boom. |
