Thats what I like about the 100 - you are all on here, and able to answer dumb questions!

first sail yesterday
(was going to go Friday - but after I took the plastic off it was blowing 25kts)

very easy to put together - (did have phil's boat next to it as 'reference') but it really was straightforward and the book is good. They've listened to the feedback and done stuff like putting loops in the gnav lines and taping the mast plug on!

went out in harbour in F4

all the controls worked fine first time - much smoother than the demo boats.

started the race with the 400s & Fireballs - as they were the only fleet with proper windward leeward course.
upwind with the 8.4 I was fully raked with plenty of kicker - found myself sitting quite far fwd which felt right into the short chop... though that far fwd the tiller extn is a bit short ----   are other people sitting all the way fwd or keeping weight more central?

as expected couldn't really hold onto the 4s and FBs upwind and after a mile and a bit beat they were a good way in front.

downwind - was planing with just the main - which was v stable platform to hoist the kite. Compared to the other boats out felt quick downwind - had caught the back of the 400 fleet by the leeward mark.
How far back to people back sit downwind? I was prob too far back as the kite sheets felt a bit short.
Sheet load was very light - but could not have held the kite on much of a reach!

had a quick swim on one dw leg (for experimental purposes obviously!)...
how do people retrieve the kite? on (for example) a 400 you can get the kite in the chute from stood on the centre board... can't reach that far over the wing on the 100. when i swam round to retrieve it from in the boat it inverted pretty quick.
Righted it with the kite half up in the end which was fine in 12 kts - but wouldn't have fancied it if it was windy - what do other people do?

No photos yet - will get some up soon.

overall the boat is absolutely brilliant - looking forward to learning to sail it properly

Hi all,

I've just posted a tuning guide for the RS100 on the association website:It should also be on the International site later today:

http://www.rs-association.com/index.asp?fleet=RS100&sele ction=Tuning%20Guides.

On a seperate note, in 10 days time it is the Glyn Charles pursuit - (15th) - I know Charlie and I are doing it in the 100s - there should also 1-2 others from HISC - it would be great to see some visitors - it is a great race "day out". you would also be welcome to stay over for Sunday racing - or we could do our own thing - some short courses or some thing - pm me or charlie if interested?

Nick.

Nick

Well I had a great sail last night.

The start of our Wednesday evening race series… and I can
see the 100 becoming a bit of a bandit for this series as
I won, 4 min clear of the next boat.

It was a gentle F2-3 for most of the race, dying off at
the end as it tends to in the evening… which was handy as
I was hiking flat out for much of it and as my strength
faded, so did the wind.

I suspect it will be a different story however when the
winds up!

What sail were you using Ian?

Clearly I'm doing it all wrong, I've had my worse results ever, last Sunday saw
me battling it out with the Mackerel Fleet.. I think I actually finished last for
the first time ever.

I am definately 10.2 material, but using the 8.4 to start with and it seems
very efficient. Being of your stature I would stick to the 8.4 for the time
being less is more.... Pick up Nicks tuning guide and use the appropriate
settings.

In my club a 100 has been first in many of the recent medium fleet races. I
had a mid fleet in my first outing and we were 2 & 3 in the medium fleet last
night until the wind stopped !
