Haha, got it on my Ipod now - 6.99 from Itunes.  I'll save it for my next trip to the desert (can be inspired while running/cycling in the gym

HELP NEEDED FROM THE Y&Y PELETON

When I get back from this trip I'll be bolting on the final pieces of the bike I'm building, and the last bit I've yet to buy is the saddle.....

Am I best paying £20-30 ish on a good looking saddle, or do I stump up the *gulp* £65 for a Selle Italia San Marco Concor (in blue suade), as it's a design classic, and will look awesome on the bike.  I'd rather hope that it's a pretty good saddle too for that kind of money!

Comments and recommendations greatfully received.

Saddles are a very arse-specific sort of thing. The simple advice is not to buy a saddle on looks. Generally if you find one saddle from a manufacturer comfy then you will find their products generally comfy. My arse gets on well with Selle Italia and Fizik saddles. The only other advice I can give is about saddles with cut outs. The idea is to reduce pressure on sensitive parts, but some people find they tend to 'pinch' sensitive parts. In short, try not to be a slave to looks...

Bugger.  I was so hoping for a definative answer.  Buy cheaper and see how I get on with it?

Probably the best plan, although the Concor should be a decent comfy saddle. I would rashly suggest that cheaper saddles get their comfort from extra padding  whereas more expensive saddles it tends to be from design and materials. But a great saddle and crap shorts could be less comfortable than a cheaper saddle and better shorts.

There is only one consideration with a saddle; comfort.

Often good buys on eBay as people often get rid of saddles they have tried & didn't like; just because they didn't like them dosn't mean they wont be good for you.

I favour the Fizik Arione on my road bike & a Selle Italia T1 on the TT bike ... trial and error I am afraid which can be expensive ...

Indeed, a Selle Italia Flite off the Bay could be a good starting point, and a lot cheaper than new ones.

The Charge Spoon gets excellent reviews as well. Cheap (around £20), light weight and good looks. (available in a few colours). I have one on my mountain bike and after a few rides it is now really comfy. I'd recommend.

Nice one.  I've ordered a grey Spoon (may as well start cheap then work up if I'm not getting on with it).

Should be waiting for me when I get home from this trip in a couple of weeks. Cant wait!
