Keith, like the man wearing orthopeadic shoes, I stand to be corrected (!) but my understanding is that the rig is effectively unstayed with the stays only there to resist the kite from driving the mast forward going downwind. In terms of 'pre-bend' its quite scary the effect the kicker has on the mast bend ! My initial reaction was that in a breeze I was not going well upwind (not just due to lack of full-on hiking fitness), pulling on the outhaul flattened the sail and it felt a lot better. Probably going to get the smaller sail as well as at 13.5 st, contrary to expectations, I am clearly marginal for the big sail in any sort of breeze. Edited by ChrisC |

Im not an expert but certainly felt like it in 15 - 20k yesterday ! Making any sort of reach in these conditions is a non starter and you quickly end up bearing away to a very deep angle indeed. GRF - think yours is an 'apparition boat' !!! Edited by ChrisC |

Just got back from my second sail.
Light and shifty - 2 to 8 knots with flat water. Boat is a total weapon in these conditions !!!! 10.4 very comfortable and I was nicely powered and hiking in the slightest of gust. Upwind she can point like crazy if needed and generally was very nicely powered and very comfortable. Some further observations: * Essential to either tie a bigger stopper knot or a bowline in the end of the toe-strap adjuster line - both knots as supplied pulled through within seconds resulting in embarrasing dunk-in to windward ! (forgot to mention this yesterday). * found that over-sheeting the main caused the leach to hook quite dramatically killing the sail. Still pointed like buggery with the main considerably eased. * I am going to fit some pro-grip on the forward side tank sides - found it was very comfortable to place my feet here in the really light and when tacking, but very slippery as no grip here. * Forget the kite on a tight reach - just doesn't work and is very slow. Better to one-sail and work harder to keep trim. * Found there is a point in soft breeze where it is better to soak rather than to apparent wind. This is going to be a key point on this boat once everybody gets into it. Trying to heat up in a light breeze the VMG takes a total nosedive. * Found on mine there is a twist in the shockcord on the kite halyard take-up - causes absolute havoc with 'birds-nest' around the blocks. Overall impression is that in lighter winds in capable hands this boat totally rocks - didn't have any problems staying with a reasonably sailed 600 and beat him over the line in the first race. Closer in the second race after some boat handling issues !. Cheers Chris 29_143549_RS100_low_Res.JPG"> Edited by ChrisC |

Well finally got out for my first sail today after wind calmed down from a windy weekend. Went out with a very good MPS sailing around with me. Main thing to get used to was the rig with no forestay. Definatley not set up right as sailing upwind shrouds seemed way too loose. Basically not doing anything. I figure I dont have the shrouds pinned far enough down. I was on about 3 down with gate in the middle. She seemed to go well although I didnt seem to be pointing aswell as Ian in the MPS. Should there be some pre bend induced on the mast when rigged? I am going to try several more pins down on the shrouds next time out. Overall impression love it downwind but some work required to get set up properly upwind (or maybe just for me to get my headaround the rig?) cheers, Keith |

Just to say that I am totally impressed with the finish and attention to detail on the boat - thanks guys. Its not till you really have to deal with eveything yourself that you appreciate all the thought that has gone into the design - brilliant!
