[QUOTE=Graham T]Well thats what it says on the website - up to 1185. In
light winds I have always been well ahead on handcap
sailing off the old 1178. Mind you as the wind picks up a
bit I find results tend to slip off until its blowing dogs
off chains and I can get planing up-wind....

I trust that this was a tongue in cheek comment....

2nd page, 1152. Plus 2, yay!

And Firefly plus 3. That should piss them off at Whitefriars...
And yes Jim, I know it will very rarely make a difference (though 2 Sundays ago I was 5th by 1 second to 2 other boats - I'd have beaten them on 1152...) but it is all in the mind!

Good afternoon,

I should point out a couple of thoughts to keep in mind when you review this years PN list.

It is PURELY based on data returned to the RYA from its clubs - the reason for more adjustments this year is because the quality of the data has significantly increased.

It is NOT personal - if your boat moves by 1 or 10 points, it is based on data and not because the RYA does not like you or your class!

The Lightning 368 is an error, I have now added this back to the list which have been reposted.

Both the website data and standard club data show the Miracle 2SC at around 1196 - we were actually conservative in moving this.

I will finish by saying that if you disagree with anything that we have done - the best way to complain is to make sure your club returns its data to the RYA and to get involved!

Cheers,

Bas

the system will never be perfect, we just have get on with it

Thank you all who manage this impossible task and allow us to race such varied boats against one another.

It looks like a logical amount of movement from the amount of data you have ... here's hoping the data will be better still for next year and the hysterisis of this new system settles down so all boats can have the perfect race.

Thanks again and kep up the good work.

Well, they had lots of data to crunch...
Fascinating how the data goes against some of my preconceptions. I've always found the British Moth handicap impossible to sail to except in no wind or on rivers. Yet it has gone down, and has almost met the Firefly on the way up.
And the Solo hasn't changed!

As for complaints,  none at all - but plenty of interesting things to think about and discuss!

Really that would of course explain the Byte CII getting a swinging trial number when it put on a new rig where as all the other boats which evolved into effectively a new rig moved via the normal process!!

But at least it's kept everyone in the 4.7 eh!

I might be sailing it, but it's still sh**e!

V3000 and laser 3000 to use the same number?  Wilsonian members will not be happy with that!

As for the topper py...... The toppers now have the most extensive training programme they've ever had so why has the py now gone upwards?

What no change to the Streaker - obviously the new Rooster Streakers are not being raced in handicap fleets much. The sailor who changed from his homemade wooden boat to a new Rooster one last year suddenly started winning lots more prizes.

Oh and one more thing I thought the xd kit on the Lasers would make them faster not slower. How can a +2 adjustment to handicap be correct?
