I think the 100 is out selling very other rs boat that was built in the same time scale be good to see at the end of the year how many are sold and how much if any came onto the 2 nd market at the end of the year would they be worth more or less when bought. As at the moment it seems as if poor old jim cant make them quick enough in thialand.

I think its great to see the class doing so well already and james i still think you will be the rep for the fleet. And i am sure nick thinks the same.

Retired now after 35 seasons in a row and time for a rest.

I think that the issue of two PY's in club sailing is running away with itself. At Largs the Laser fleet starts off one start - if you sail with the Radial sail it is off the radial handicap and Full sail off the full handicap. The boat gets the result in a single set of Laser results (i.e you choose which rig and when and sail with the relevant handicap on the day). No one complains and it should work the same in the handicap fleets. Generally the heavy guys sail with the big sail and the lighter guys with small sail with very little rig swapping - except in very windy conditions. (hopefully we'll get one design sailing quickly anyway if Nick and the boys keep going at the rate of sales they are doing now)

In my opinion Nick/ RS are rght to drive the boat down the Full/ Radial (separate classes) route as when the RS100 takes of internationally it will become the interesting alternative to Laser sailing and encourage light and heavy sailors to join the class. (all the better for residual values!)

Suggest the smaller rig has either different colour numbers or a roundal to identify it from the big rig. When you sign on note the ID mark too.

For open's, nationals and internationals it should be two classes, one of which is entered for the entire series with no swapping. (maybe just one start initially)

If you read Nick's feedback the vision is that the RS100 could go the laser/radial route with 2 distinct classes hence the 2 PY's. Time will tell what the difference between the rigs is.

This is of kind of my pont.  Why does it need to have 2 PY's??  The boat has two sail sizes and both are still called the RS100, therefore its one boat.   The Solo's do a smaller cut down sail, but it sails off the same PY as the full version.  Lasers have different rigs, but they are different classes of boat and as such each rig has a different PY.

Therefore i think it should be one PY, i don't see thre being much speed difference between the two rigs, in all but the lightest conditions.

Besides the OD having to identify which rig is which, how
would it work in a club race series? Would it be one boat
with two PY's and a single set of points or two different
boats with the points split between them?

Its really only just dawned on me how clever bit of marketing this (two sails)
is by RS - basically two-boats-in-one needing only the alternative sail to
give the boat both a large wind range and a much larger potential market,
light to heavy. This should be great for encouraging big fleets at club level
and also ensuring excellent future secondhand values - another winning
point !

Out of interest any take up with female sailors to date ? See there are some
girls on the RS100 Facebook site.

Congrats to all concerned. I really like the boat, but can't be talked out of
cats at the minute

The team are showing some serious business skills here. Revealing a brand
new class and getting some huge sales in the largest global recession the
world has seen - fair play

On the day I put my money down, which was a week or so ago, 5 other people had already done so that day! That has to be a good day for sales! Makes you feel pretty confident about putting money down when that happens...
