Its sail repair tape, i should imagine he has put it there to stop wear from a fitting, or rope.

Think i have finsihed at Bowoor for the year now, boat is going in for some gel work this week , then i'm off at the winters the following week, might pop down the 21st for a play if you don't mind.

depower the rig effciently, where the heavier crew can still be looking for
power. I wouldn´t limit sailors to choosing a rig per season/event since
after the first season sailing, most people will have made their choice as
to which rig is better for them and stick with it. I don´t want to start a
"Phantom-like" debate about yardstick banditry which might be caused
by this stance, but you´ll get oscillations in PY for the first few years
anyway, depending upon how many clubs place their returns and what
sort of demography the class develops. There´s my threpence ha´penny,
for what it´s worth.

Just get out on the water, sail and enjoy your new class of boat. Simples!
