Yes I am about 10.5 stone so had no option but go for 8.4m2.

I remembered the discussion about PY's and my impression was that for club racing there might be the different PY's but when one design sailing they would all be together (until there is enough numbers of each rig at events to justify splitting results?).

My plan is hang on upwind then make up the places downhill!!!!

Cheers,

Keith...

Hi Keith,

Thanks for the update. I checked the development blog yesterday and
nothing had changed at that time.

Personally I think the '10.2' and '8.4' titles are better than A and B (I
hadn't previously been aware of this for the 300 until I started looking at
other single-handers).

Does anybody know yet what the weight limit cut off points are - are
these the same as for the 300. At 85kg presuming I am just in the heavy
category and I have gone for the big rig because I am looking for
optimum light to medium air performance (the sort of conditions where
Solos and Phantoms cane my Vortex !).

Interesting to see that the smaller rig has a higher PY proposed. Had
thought that the weight equalisation with the big and small main would
give a very equal figure and the speed advantage would then be with the
lighter sailors because of the bigger kite downwind.

Note also the comments about difficulty using kite on reaching legs,
which I had anticipated based on the sail area. Personally not planning on
doing any 'reaching' if I can help it (leave that for the windsurfers!) as
cant see how that is compatible with an assymetric boat - or any other
boat for that matter (follow the leader procession with minimal tactical
opportunity) !

Role on end of March - when the fun will really start !
Not now Kato (you fewl) !

Another update on the development blog....

http://www.rssailing.com/index.asp?selection=Development%20B log&fn=RS100

Lots of info.

Just thinking ahead with the 2 rigs what are they going to be known as? Simply RS100 10.2 and RS100 8.4 or I wonder if the 300 style A and B rig may be better.

I am really curious what the take up on each rig will be as I get the feeling that the smaller rig may be more popular than the smaller of the 300 rigs which seems quite unusual.

Cheers,

Keith.

"300 with stabilisers"

Or

"Two for D-One" Obviously meaning you could get two for the price of one D-one.

or my favourite:

Both Anthony York and myself will be at the Tiger Trophy this coming weekend sailing in two RS100's. Now i am no rock star as a sailor so don't expect anything too glam as far as results are concerned - remember i spend most of my days sat at a computer (like most of you guys it would seem) and when i do get to a sailing club, i'm generally stood on the shore watching, but i'm up for giving it a blast. So please come and find me and take a look at the boat in the flesh, or if it's too cold/windy (here's wishing for some wind!) then i'll be in the bar afterwards.

I got to see the RS100 in the flesh at the SN and I like it a lot.  unfortunately I am out of the demographic for the boat (10 stone is never going to work)

can I offer the challenge of the shustoke gauntlet to you guys on the 14th feb to show how the boat will perform on restricted waters, because I know within the club there are many who are muttering in interest.

Is that a red boat on the right of the picture??

No, by looking at it I would say it is the deck mold

It's a Fire Extinguisher surely?
Needs to sail more...
