What a fantastic post.

Excellent - does that mean we can expect Steve's project to end up being called 'Slaartvart' or 'Booding' or some other made up Scandanavian name?!

Amen! Either be big enough to have an HR department or work by yourself!
Inbetween can be soul-destroying.

I would take a good guess the hulls will be built in China or somewhere very like that.  Cheap labour and production costs, enough bulk to make shipping them affordable,  I would be amazed twice over if they are built in the uk.

When I mentioned the hypothetical purchase of these using grant funding our RYA rep was not at all keen to see money spent on an unproven design.  That is a shame, because especially with interchangeable rigs, they would be an ideal training singlehander.
the same, but different...

I'm sure I read that they were to be made in Britain. Why would they
be anymore ideal than a Laser- it might be really tippy for all we know
(which isn't much).

With an Resin Transfer Moulding process I believe it becomes cost effective to build in the uk if you are making 50+ boats a year.

I would expect that this will give sigificant cost reductions over small scale production,

Like some other things - sailing is more enjoyable when you do it with someone else

No boat-building is even remotely anything like Ikea!

They make ten million Lack tables a year.

I think Mr Rooster should sub the work out to them! In the other half of the factory they build my £5000 Fiat Panda.
