As camper van owners we prefer full weekend events as there's more time to relax, especially if combined with an evening event and on-site camping and we can arrive Friday night. One day events always seem such a rush. For one day £5 to £10 for entrance, a bit higher if lunch is included. For two or three day (Bank Hol) events up to about £35 without meals plus probably £10 per head for evening meals. Many of our events do inclusive prices. Liquid fuels for van and selves extra of course.

I double stack with a mate, he pays for the diesel and I pay for the entrance/lunch works out at about the same so cuts our costs by half and we get someone to talk to on the way and more importantly on the way back to help stay awake whilst driving. We can also commiserate with each other and blame some other poor innocent

Same as Nathan. But I replace my set of sails every National
Championship and then relegate the older ones to open meeting sails so i guess you could factor in £100 over the 15 or so events i do a year. Plus alot of things such as accommodation, food etc my crew has to pay for as well. But then things like fuel and entry fees we split. Never really thought how much i spend. Im never really that bothered tbh. I have friends who take thermos flasks of tea with them etc to save buying a cuppa but the way i look at it is, whats 50p when the only thing that will buy me on my boat is the plastic bobble on the end of the halyard. I know it all adds up, and dont get me wrong im very good with money, but i do the events to enjoy them and cutting corners here and there to save a few quid just dampens my weekend. as for tips on saving cash my only one is not to get into large round situations at the bar! |

£20 is a fair ammount of money for a one day event mate (I know there is another thread) I would think between £30 and £50 for a one day event including fuel. |

Cheers Russ I have just been doing a little bit of working out. Most of the events in the midlands curcuit are about an hour away with a couple about 1hr 30mins and they are all on day events so my costs would be much less as I would take my own lunch I think the entry fees are between £12 - £20 and then I would only have to add the fuel on. I think I could get away with £50 - £60 per event.

Thats what I thought so I started this. I'm just interested in ways that people keep the general costs down. I havent done any curcuit sailing for years and I think that I may be able to complete the midlands area curcuit this year. |

Entry costs were discussed, but not what a whole event sets you back (only that entries were a small %). Not sure I dare do the maths, as I might stay home!
