They worked for me, Andy! Conversations in the past on here have revolved around what you are looking at it all on (Firefox, IE etc), as to whether photos can sometimes not be seen. However, as you know, my background knowledge of computers is zero, so I could be talking crap...

I brought the 600 home a couple of weeks ago and stuck it in the garage for the winter clean-up. The racks have been removed and ive been gradually working away at it to get it to how i want it to look.

I had a nasty surprise when i removed the port rack. It had clearly taken a massive knock at some point in its life and so needed some repairing work done to straighten it.

Ok, most of the stuff ive done is probably bimbling. But it freshens up the boat and makes it look nice. Plus it is expensive and unneccessary. But isnt that the point of all this?

I went to the London Boat Show yesterday in search of some bargains i wasnt disappointed.

I got some 8mm Swiftcord and some 3mm Evolution race from a Maffioli Bargain bin at a stand called Outdoor Xscape. They had loads of various length and width offcuts of swiftcord, evo race and the SK75 stuff. And it was all rock bottom prices. I got 7m of 8mm Swift for a tenner! BARGAIN.

So thats my new mainsheet sorted!

And at the Harken stand they were selling winter gloves for a tenner aswell.

This will complete the Gucci winter fit-out of the 600.

This includes: ALL maffioli ropes (even on the U bolts)

Resprayed wings in gloss black. They are being done in my mates Dads car body workshop soon for a professional job. The maff covers on the U bolts is to protect the new paintjob they are getting.

I'll get some pictures of these when i get them back.

New progrip and gorilla pad.

I also came to my senses and decided that i didnt need that gay pink mainsheet cleat. So off it came.

Ill take some better pictures when its all finished and the boat is back together.

Any chance you could post those pictures again as they don't seemed to have worked?  Just in the process of doing my 600 up and would be interested to see what you've done as I'm new to the class.

Cheers,

Andy

?

Yea i found that too to start with but if you flick the line forwards and up then it's pretty good at staying in the cleat.

Have you got a picture of that? I dont quite understand
what you mean

I was going to put a plastic ring on the spring under the
main block and have the tail of the main running through
there to another ring on the rudder post then with some
elastic attached to it and tied to the base of the main
block. Is that the same sort of thing?

Salty - I have set my kicker up in the same was as Class Rep James.  I have the cunningham over the foredeck too which seems to work ok.  Using 4mm Marlow Control lines that run well yet are pretty grippy to pull.

Follow the link for splashbury ring... http://blueboat.tv/portfolio/ ...Its brilliantly simple and you can get to the kicker where ever you are on the wing

Like TT I also moved my trapeze elastic but i run it through the forward most ring on the wing.  I also took the old plastic eye off the deck and gelcoated the holes over to make the invisible - hated standing on the stupid thing.  Much better arrangements as the wires are where you want to be after a tack and don't get the way of the sail on light downwinds.  I have heard though that if your a little short in the arms it makes it difficult hooking on in wild downwinds but i never found that a problem.

I don't have a continuous outhall, but I hardly ever adjust that much very anyway.

I had a ronstan base with cleat but i found just taking the arm off didn;t make a very good swivel so I replaced that as well with a simple harken stand up base.

For the main sheet I am using 9mm Rooster stuff which I like. Teh end of the mainsheet it tied to elastic that is doubled up and runs through one eye of the main sheet strop and is then fixed at the other. When tight the end of the mainsheet is pretty close to the strop eye and stops too much getting washed out the back.

I think I have it set up pretty well now - just need to work out how to sail it consistently.

Money is what would stop me.
Being a student i have a rubbish job and barely enough
money to put petrol in my car.

I did buy something off ebay the other day which could be
used for some sort of pimping. I didnt buy it as a definite
to put on the boat but i think i could make something of it
instead of its initial purpose.

You will have to keep guessing what it is until i get some
pictures of it, which wont be until it arrives (sometime
this week).
