The mystery is how he manages to find enough time away from a keyboard to fit any actual sailing in!
Keyboard 'fluency' is often considered an after dark activity. |

Can I comment on this a bit without upsetting you, it kind of illustrates the point I was trying to get across about the way sails ought to twist but don't seem to? I know it's just a snapshot in time, I also realise the apparent wind vector must be quite forward, but.... Fantastic shot by the way, looks almost unreal. |

My guess is the main sail isn't twisting as there's probably relatively little load on it, the majority will be in the kite. The assy's I've sailed you need to knock off quite a bit of kicker for downwind, to prevent the main hooking when the load goes out of it, when the spinaker starts pulling. Edited by mongrel |

well master of rig design.....shape is a combination of batten stiffnesses
and broadseeming ..this sails have quite a bit of that different to surf sails....etc and d one flying shape is quite right.....so by putting tapered battens you would end up mooving draft forward .....making the sail less efficient....but what is the point in discussing .....yuo have never sailed the d one ........ , what obliges me to waist my time reading your
postings is your continuos effort in denigrating what we have done with passion , being yourself so competent in marketing you do not need any explanation on the fact that what you are doing is some sort of diffamatory campaign...well good luck with that.... . at times it
backfires....and considering that we are promoting a new racing format with the d one just fun oriented , we will allow you to put any battens you want in the sails ,so maybe you could make good use of your knowledge and win some races for a change ..that hough will stop you posting against the d one for those hours...if yours and turnturtles postings against my little baby could be summed up .....and transformed into positive energy....well they could generate enough electricity to supply london for a while

OK Luca - I give in.
It's a wonderful boat. I love it, in fact I can't wait to have it's baby.. (rig that is when you build it) There Happy? As you say, what does it matter, it's a one design anyway, everybody races on the same thing. (Would have been the best answer) |

well , why limiting you guys to make best use of your knowkedge and play
around with battens.....if that is fun for you.... ,as well as rake
daggerboard position , mast position etc......rig for your info is so soft that it will require more time spent in the gym, than on the keyboard....never met you in person , but does not seem you are not spending much time in the gym..being always on the keyboard..i am fat at present .... , so too
heavy...but you guys would struggle to get the main sheeted if my perception of your fitness level is correct....so now that you have seen the light just put in every posting you do D-one on order...and bash some other yards boat....just to make friends...so that they can help the electrical supply of london too..

Jesus this threads going nowhere fast! If the sailors on the D-one circuit are as arrogant and as friendly as this i will stick with the friendly RS circuit thanks! At least if you criticise the 100 RS will give you the rationale behind the idea, not just belittle you by basically saying I'm Luca Devoti! Luca seriously pal, the D-one is without doubt a fine ship (looks apart) and will no doubt build up a fine international following. Lets draw a line in the sand here, what are the D-Ones USP's? what makes it worth the £10-£12k it would cost me to buy one? |

Gym?
Why would anyone need to visit a gym? I've spent my entire life in gyms. I'm fit as a butchers dog, but getting on a bit now, so decided to 'retire' to cushy dinghy sailing, now why would i want to go back to all that training. Windsurfer = 10X fitness of Dinghy Sailor. And Finn Sailors? They always told me they were the Pussies of sailing, overweight, out of condition older guys... Spend their time tooling around on pussy lakes like Garda... Need floppy rigs cos they couldn't hold the power. Edited by G.R.F. |
