Me and my 12 year old were out in the Mirror. I was very impressed with him helming in that breeze. He lost his confidence a little on the spinnaker gybe's after taking a swim by allowing the boat to round up after gybing. Tacked around one gybe mark. But good experience. Managed to rip the spinnaker crane off the mast mind you!

Racing cancelled at Shoreham, but some went for a blast anyway (not me - chicken!). This could have been SO much worse than its was...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hzm0iAxOvj8 No-one hurt, fortunately, and only minor damage. |

Rutland was great! Definitely windy, a case of survival sailing getting the best results, feeling rather tender today but would not have missed it.

Chickend out on the Medway. I like a breeze but my crew was apprehensive and to be frank so was I with a whistling noise coming from all the boats in the dinghy park we dicided to give it a miss.

Well, all the odds were against the racing at Grafham going ahead, so we headed for Draycote on Saturday, knowing that they tend not to go "girly" and close the water at the first sign of some breeze We met IanC & Tom up there, and put Nice Action & Design Source together to go for a hack. Bloody hell it was windy! We were both on our 3 rigs and got completely whooped. We both managed a couple of laps of the lake and a screaming kite run each, but interspersed with about a dozen swims. On one occasion we were twin wiring upwind, and a gust just knocked us flat, and it was so powerful that we decided to just leave the boat on its side for about 15 minutes while it passed through. Later when we were coming back to the club, we were on a fine reach (both on the wire) and got hit by a big gust. The boat nosedived so fast that we both got a close-up view of the upper spreaders on the way past Bloody good fun though, and there are some pics that I'm sure wil find their way onto this forum in te next day or two. Who says you can't sail a skiff when it gets windy |

Or a 300 hey Bob ... awsome sail even if it was for only 20 mins.
I decided to capsize as I saw that proper forum gust head my way ... fresh water being picked up and hurled at me. Damn it stung ![]() Well chuffed I managed to get downwind to the start area though without throwing it in and an awsome reach across the lake before the above. Topped that great sail off, with another good day in the Musto today, damn I'm lucky to have such a great stretch of water so close to home. ![]() |

Took the 300 out for the second time today and it is easly the best boat ive sailed, ever. Just getting used to the boat after being trapesing for the last year. However im sure i made the best move possible in getting rid of the 700. We had 10knots of real wind today and i feel i'm going to struggle in alot more than 15 as im only 65kg (any tips). But the downwind ride will be fun im sure.

David, Its all abut time in the boat with the 300 (as with any class) good technique will get you round the course. Make sure you are using plenty of Kicker and cunningham and you will be fine.
But most of all look after that boat

We had a cracking sail on Saturday morning, although I kept it brief just to be on the safe side! |
