Hi Tim

Consider my wrists well and truly slapped.  Maybe not a traditional 'highjack' as in my defence I was really just responding to a request for photos already here but I'll set up a Halo thread in due course .... and you are very welcome to pitch in yourself naturally.

Bring the D1 along to Burghfield again sometime.  Are you doing any of the winter handicaps ?  And what PN are 'they' using for it ?  In the meantime enjoy !

Mike L.

Am looking forward to Sunday...looks D-One weather.

I went up to QM today to re-check that she was still alive after last night/today's mental wind.

There was one windsurfer out...(grf??)

I could actually lean into the gusts at an angle just standing.....I hven't seen wind like that for a long time.

A colleague of mine at work went on an Atlantic cruise to New York and must have sailed head on into that storm....I wouldn't feel much like eating in that.....luxury or not

Having read this and your post in the 100 thread, do you have some axe to
grind? You seem pretty aggressive for a newie.

Absolutely I'm a bit light relatively - at a very modest 84kg !  You got to remember  the leverage available though (proper wings you know - and Jeffers you do know that already don't you).   It really is one for the big guys as has been said - but an awful lot of fun anyway.

Having said that the main is only 0.34 of a metre bigger than a Phantom at 11.59m (but tall of course) and the wings still make it very much easier anyway at any weight.  Could have gone a lot bigger but the target spec did not require it and we wanted to preserve the full high wind capability.

In fact I get back in a Blaze in breeze now and think .... God that's easy !  Seriously Halo is fantastic, does exactly what we hoped a year ago and simply needs to be tried. We are horribly biased, but still think many should try it and make up your own minds.

In the meantime I've got a winter of pasta and beer ahead to get up to a proper Halo 'fighting weight'.

Aren't we a little bit too far towards promoting our own boat on a rival's topic here folks? Way off topic for people interested in the Devotti boat.

Are you not a tad on the light side for a Halo as well Mike?

I have to say that sail looks bloody big especially on the second shot. I remember when I first sat in the Blaze and thought **** me thats a lot of sail!

Looking good though, can't wait to read the Test in Y&Y...

Yes me as well - and it twas me in the boat !  You try 4 hours each day out there in decent breeze and see if you give it welly 100% of the time (we were not racing!)  We have plenty of 'powered up' photos as well but thought you might like to see the rig with a bit of 'Garda backdrop'.  Note it is still flying upwind though ....
