Hansen Aerosport mucked around with a modern rig on a laser - I've no idea how good it was.

I think Rooster were experimenting with a carbon top section for the 8.1 but they gave up on that as well when they had the same problems.

Steve wasn't too popular with Laser for releasing the 8.1. Would have thought that would have put anyone off trying something similar...

Not sure where you heard that. I heard that 'on the quiet' Laser are actually quite happy because they are selling more boats to people who would not oridinarily consider buying a Laser....

To me what's interesting about this one is that it's a new hiker without an assymetric spinnaker.  Which will actually be a selling point for some people.

From the facebook photos you can see that the boat has a different hull shape to the laser - it is broader, slightly more flared and with an open transom.  It also has a centreboard, which again will appeal to some more than others.

I can't quite make out what is happening around the mast stepping area....it appears to be a slot....

Intended length 4m, target hull weight 40 - 50kg.

the same, but different...

I just can't see the point of this boat.
The RS100 and D-one, whilst could be considered yet more boats to dilute the pool, they do offer something that either isn't done or has been done badly.
This singlehander though..... what does it offer?

I can't help thinking, the money spent on developing this boat would be better spent on a marketing campaign for the Rooster Streaker.

Does the Rooster streaker need a marketing campaign though?  I would not have thought so; it's pretty successful already.

It's doing reasonably well. But it's still very much a northern boat with little
knowledge on the south coast. At fed week this year I spent all week
explaining to people what the boat was and the fact that the class had
actually been around for decades.
A good solid campaign promoting the boat across the south would see far
more boats sold.
And then putting money towards possibly attending shows at other
countries and promoting the boat across the continent.
From that he could create nice consistent revenue through selling sails,
covers, etc etc.
If someone's going to invest in creating a new boat, i think there should be
a very obvious reason to do so..... so what's the reason?

I have a streaker for sale at the moment and have been inundated with interested enquiries, mostly coming from the south.  Maybe there is a supply and demand problem.

Have a guess at this early teaser photo and just what it might be on .... a bit of a design/development testing  Hint - free standing rig and not on a Blaze/Halo hull either ....
