I am here in East Angular and think I sit pretty much on the north/south divide from most people's perspectives.  Personally I think of the North as Yorkshire upwards.  I like the North and I love going up there to sail because you still get a decent post race tea in many places.

I must confess to being a half breed though - my Mum was from Yorkshire.
the same, but different...

OFFS.... I just heard that Ben A was born in Macclesfield....darn it.

This whole thing started with me as we were discussing a meeting earlier this year where one of my colleagues (over from Canada) was ammused to hear that one of the guys we were meeting had taken the afternoon off on the previous day as it was "a chance to walk on the beach with my kids in the snow, they could be in their 30's before that happens again!" - then I saw the north/south thing on the RS100 site....

however, now I've realised our numero uno single-handed dinghy genius is just masquerading as a genius from Lymington and not actually a born southener.... let's just say bugger it, there goes the sheen from my veneer (or should that be sneer) of southern greatness over them up north

... still least we can hang on to the fact it's a m-ar-st not a m-aa-st and our boats are f-ar-st not f-aa-st........ it's bl%^dy tenuous I know but....
Feeling sorry for vegans since it became the latest fad to claim you are one

if you look at a map the north half of the UK starts half way between leeds and the scottish boarder. Now all you southerners get back to your sun bathing, posing and get some practise in

Rutland isn't "North". Cambridgeshire is very much "South", and Rutland borders the traditional boundary of Cambridgeshire...

A London lawyer runs a stop sign and gets pulled over by a Glasgow copper.

He thinks that he is smarter than the cop because he is a lawyer from LONDON and is certain that he has a better education then any Jock cop. He decides to prove this to himself and have some fun at the Glasgow cops expense!!

Glasgow cop says, ' Licence and registration, please.'

London Lawyer says, 'What for?'

Glasgow cop says, 'Ye didnae come te a complete stop at the stop sign..'

London Lawyer says, 'I slowed down, and no one was coming.'

Glasgow cop says, 'Ye still didnae come te a complete stop. Licence and registration, please.'

London Lawyer says, 'What's the difference?'

Glasgow cop says, 'The difference is, ye huv te come te a complete stop, that's the law, Licence and registration, please!'

London Lawyer says, 'If you can show me the legal difference between slow down and stop, I'll give you my licence and registration; and you give me the ticket. If not, you let me go and don't give me the ticket.'

Glasgow cop says, 'Sounds fair. Come oot o your vehicle, sir.'

The London Lawyer exits his vehicle.

The Glasgow cop takes out his baton and starts beating the {zb} out of the lawyer and says 'Dae ye want me te stop, or just slow doon?

I think you'll find there are no R's in 'mast' or 'fast' - they should be pronounced with an 'a' not an 'ar' - bloody southerners can't even talk properly

The South

Better weather
Overcrowded

The West

The East

Like some other things - sailing is more enjoyable when you do it with someone else
